JJ makes a lot of American culture videos that are like…65-80 percent accurate for the white people of my country of birth. I can see the strong effort placed in making the videos and the Canadian talent he has. Also, I am happy that JJ discussed in a very Canadain lense the current anti immigrant sentiment in USA. Unfortunately…like most Canadians I know, they tend to see my birth land as a mirror of Canada, or do not understand current political ethnic clashes and other authoritarian issues that simply does not exist in Canada.

Notice which continent created the most immigrant-American innovations. Fascinating how it isn't Africa or India

I love how you used that sound clip of “The Cliff That Time Forgot” from Earthbound against the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. That fit so appropriately.

the problem with the prescriptive list of culture is that that list can only really be used for cultures that started out in ancient times, or at least cultures rooted in that time period of human history. the odd and exciting part about US history is that it's not rooted in ancient history at all because there was no US before the modern era of human history. the only ancient influences in our culture come from the natives and immigrants. i think this little tidbit is really cool.

There's a major difference between the European and Southeast Asian immigration of the past and that of the South Asian, African, and Latin American immigration of the present. The former wave of immigration builds and develops, while the latter takes and destroys.

Level 8 of American culture is claiming everything is antisemitic, which you've obviously been influenced by judging by your Twitter 🙄

I think the point that JD is trying to make, which resonates with many people,is that in spite of any great cultural contributions of immigrants, there really does exisit an american people. That this country is not a corporation but the homeland of the american people. In schools and journalists seem to highlight the minority while not suffeciently teaching about the majority to provide proper context of what the minority is being marginalized from

Your take about Florida and Texas not culturally generating their weight, and Pennsylvania/Ohio over-generating their weight really comes down to a question of historical population, rather than current population that you imply. I think the Florida and Texas cultural waves are coming, just like Ohio and Pennsylvania are on their way down. Ohio has generated the most US presidents.
