I still use wattpad but over the past years, my stories have continued to reach no visibility. it honestly just feels like the algorithm is not in my favour. it’s quite sad and it does tug on my already staggering self esteem and confidence as an artistic creator.

Agreed, I’m writing a dystopia and thought “oh, Wattpad, I haven’t used that at all in years” so I make an account and I’m bombarded with so much billionaire, ceo, mafia, werewolves, and saw no other types of stories, so I go looking and basically found none. Wattpad only pushes you if you’re guaranteed to make them a profit and that’s a slim margin because why trust new guy over insert guy who’s pasted the same store for years

I'm using Wattpad in Microsoft Edge and one month ago while I was reading a check if you not a robot appeared I clicked on it and after this my pc notifications started to freaking out and started spamming McAfee notification saying that my pc has a virus its looked vary suspicious because I didn't have McAfee installed on pc. and yesterday while I was reading a Norton Online Monitor appeared without warning scanning something on the website I closed the tab vary fast I don't now if its Wattpad problem or Microsoft Edge.

9:42 Once read a oneshot that was 42k words long. I still read it in one sitting so I guess it counts
A week or so after the same author (YES SAME AUTHOR) released a oneshot with 32-33k words. I also read it in one sitting
They were both Royalteeth btw and I do not regret reading them one bit

my biggest problem with Wattpad and Ao3 is that a lot of children were lured into porn addiction because of it. I know friends of mine that used it and took so long to understand that they were addicted. that the weird feeling that 12 year old girl was feeling wasn't just the pleasure of reading. that it was addiction in pornography. That's why I hate those sites

I never understood why people went to Wattpad for fanfiction instead of fanfiction net or AO3. It's so much harder to get exposure for your stories on wattpad compared to these other two sites, and by the same token it's much harder for readers to find stories they might like on wattpad than on the other two. I could post the same story on fanfiction net, AO3, and wattpad, and get lots of views and comments on the first two while getting literally 0 views on wattpad unless I spent days and days trying to advertise my own story on the forums there, which would be annoying to both me and to readers.

I stopped using wattpad around 2021-2022 for the mere fact that I would find a good story and it would just get deleted for not following the guidelines with no way of ever finding it again.
