Rudy Giuliani started his career as a superstar prosecutor and a crime-fighting mayor. Then he led New York City back from the attacks of September 11th, and it made him a beloved national figure. But today’s Giuliani is something different: He’s the guy willing to say anything to defend Donald Trump on TV, a central figure in the scandal that got the president impeached, and he’s under investigation by the US attorney’s office he once led.     I should point out that Giulianiā€™s knighthood is honorary. Since he isnā€™t the citizen of a British or Commonwealth state, he is legally ineligible to call himself Sir Rudy Giuliani

    People create "heroes". When Christchurch was rocked by a deadly earthquake the then mayor turned up for photo ops in a high vis jacket and was lauded for it. He was not a bad guy but also there was nothing heroic nor remarkable about wandering about the city in a hi-viz jacket – the sainthood was created by the media.
