The REAL Reason Big Pharma Want Peptides Banned

The Diary Of A CEO Clips | September 3, 2026

Dr. Alex Tatem, an internationally recognized urologist who has studied peptides for over a decade, explains what peptides actually do, why they were banned, and why the fight over them is really a fight between big pharmaceutical companies and your right to choose.

Tatem describes the surge of interest in peptides as a “forbidden fruit effect.” When these compounds were banned, people naturally assumed they wouldn’t have been banned if they didn’t work, and that curiosity, amplified by viral short-form content and new leadership at HHS, has brought peptides roaring back into the conversation. On the day of this interview, the FDA announced it would consider moving seven peptides from category two back to category one, effectively legalizing them.

Discover:
• Why banning peptides created a “forbidden fruit” boom
• The seven peptides the FDA is considering legalizing
• The “app on your phone” analogy for what peptides can do
• The patient whose sperm count increased tenfold after a peptide
• Why compounded tirzepatide is the most controversial vial on the table
• How pharma companies use the FDA to crush cheaper competition
• Why the peptide gray market is like “gas station sushi”
• The topical peptide with real science behind reversing skin aging

Capitalism = Pharma companies. You should love pharma companies if you love Capitalism and vice versa! If not, then you want either Social Democracy (the US was a Social Democracy from the 1930s until 1980) or Democratic Socialism.

What's not mentioned is many of these peptides like the GLP1 drugs are easy to make with current technology, but big pharma maximized profits to an extreme level. So give the grey market can make the same peptides and sell them at a "REASONABLE" price has created the prohibition "Research Only Market". A 50gram batch can make a mom & pop operation can make $100,000 in profits. Big pharma makes $500,000+ on same amount. We need drug price regulations. The American system protects big pharma profits not patients. We need to vote out crony capitalism.

Steven I got news for you as you are on ketogenic diet. The GLP1-GIP agonists (ozempin, mounjaro/trizepatide or the big wave or Retatrutide – wait and see what it's gonna happen when Reta comes out) do WHATEVER THEY WANT no matter what you eat. They will keep your blood sugar stable at a high point, NO MATTER what you have eaten the previous day. It may stall weight loss for sure if you are on low carb and the next day you will eat lasagna and a big sourdough burger based breakfast, with something like 0.5kg but that's all. No matter what macros you are eating either 12net carbs or 120net carbs the result in blood measurements, weist circumference and weight loss is EXACTLY the same. Keto is not possible with GLP1 agonists as fat will burn everything in your digestive system – this drug is perfectly DESIGNED for carb eaters it seems.
All that to say that the strategy to keep people for ever in the drug has a logic. We become Frankenstein with those drugs that EVERYBODY will take in 5y. from now. Either in pill, either in montly injection, or weekly, or whatever…in 5y. EVERYBODY will be a Frankenstein absolutely voluntarily.
No more harsh lifestyle and eating with Keto, but not me. I don't like to be manipulated. I'll lose whatever big number is to lose and then back to low carb and Keto specially right after the taper off phase. Only this time I'll know. That once an obese ALWAYS an obese and that forbidden foods are NEVER to enter not my mouth but my mind even as a thought. I'll have the control now. Now I know. And I don't like to be the experiment in Lilly's hands or any other pharma.

Have these compounds been tested on people with early stage cancers? Bood flow and growth mechanisms can also help malignant pathways. Caution must be taken until long term safety data is available. Recall cigarettes were advertised by doctors a century ago….

Incredible breakdown on the science behind peptides and the FDA regulatory shifts! The insights on BPC-157, metabolic recovery, and tissue repair add immense value to this discussion.

From a post-production perspective, displaying clean visual callout cards for each peptide mentioned (highlighting functions like angiogenesis, cellular repair, and ATP generation) alongside subtle kinetic framing would make the medical concepts instantly digestible and elevate viewer retention across the 20 minutes. Pairing that with a high-contrast thumbnail emphasizing the banned peptide bottles would noticeably maximize CTR on browse feeds.

I work as a professional video editor and thumbnail designer specializing in high-retention podcast clips and health-optimization content. If you are ever looking to streamline post-production and scale retention on upcoming clips, I would love to connect and collaborate.

Sorry, terrible interview not balanced at all. Did not ask him about the human literature and if there are any studies to determine long-term effects or complications or increased risk of cancer.

Big Pharma do not like competition. They want people getting sick so they can make money off those people. Peptides can make a lot of big pharma drugs unnecessary. Healthy people equals no money. They created the covid vaccine and tricked everyone believing they needed. Now the cancer rate is going up in vaccinated people, covid vaccine has caused health problems in perfectly healthy young people that didn't need the vaccine. And children being born from vaccinated people are having more mental health problems But we don't talk about any of that, because big pharma covers it up so its not heard of on the news.

    Ragazzi…

Gray Tirz has changed my life. It's turned around my fatty liver. I have type 1 diabetes. I went from needing 250 units per day of insulin and an a1c of 8.5 TO using 34 units of insulin and an a1c of 5.6. They will have to pry Tirzepatide out of my cold dead hands and it costs me $15 a month. Screw Lilly. I'm stocking this stuff to the damn rafters.

This is literally the most backward analysis of how drug companies work in the world. If they were legalized, the drug companies would make literally 95% of the profit from it, with local providers making most of the rest. Thats how it works. The only reason peptides like BPC-157 have been banned from studies and therefore not approved for use is because their known and obvious cancer risk makes it ethically unacceptable to administer to humans in a study. So, only one or two Eastern European small studies have ever happened on it. With the stupid promotion of these that the current administration is doing, the window is open for big pharma to sweep in and run industry studies to get these approved so they can make a fortune on them. There is no way to test their known and obvious cancer risk in a study. Too many confounding variables, etc. So, they’ll get approved, and in a decade or two we’ll be scratching our heads about why cancer is up another 30%.

I haven't watched tue video yet so be gentle. Don't the pharmaceutical companies sell peptides. And there are lots of different kinds of peptides as well. So are there certain ones they don't want? Others they do?
