The Punisher: Inside Dutertes Bloody War on Drugs | ENDEVR Documentary

We hold the Line | ENDEVR Documentary

Watch ‘Philippines: The Rise of a New Military Power in Asia’ here: https://youtu.be/73PU5O4oCs4

Foreward: Rodrigo Roa Duterte served as the 16th president of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022. He is currently serving as the mayor of Davao City since 2025. This documentary is about one journalist’s fight against some of Duterte’s policies.

In many countries of the world, democracies are eroding from within. In some countries, they are dying. It is a death by a thousand cuts. In the Philippines, journalist Maria Ressa and her team from the news platform Rappler fought and continue to fight against a violent president who executes tens of thousands of people with death squads and turns the country into a dictatorship. Maria is the last woman standing in an unjust war and is being recognized for holding the line against the downfall of democracy by TIME magazine as Person of the Year in 2018.

Facts, first-class journalism, and kindness are her defense. She becomes a target of a legal smear campaign by the government and is imprisoned twice. Duterte weaponizes social media and the law to control the country. Facebook trolls hunt her online and in real life to silence her. The documentary gives a rare behind-the-scenes access to Maria and her staff and accompanies them over a year during threats to their work and life. Victims of the war, critical politicians in hiding, and members of the death squads give insight into the real “war on drugs“ of President Duterte.

Duterte tried to fix a real internal problem people in impoverished regions had. Drugs have destroyed many.. But only few even benefit from it. The ex president did do bad. But only for the good. His reasons aren't enough to justify for the deaths he caused but all were for the people than to an ideology of "civil". Once you start using drugs, you can never quit it. Like corruption…

Chinese drug lords are the mastermind of the PH drug trade not thousands of small time Filipino pushers killed Chinese drug lords settle in PH because if caught in China they would be legally executed while in PH death penalty was abolished and justice far from being impartial PH politicians are incompetents aside from being thieves with or without Duterte or Marcos makes no difference

Example: For China that had won 2 opiumsl wars. There must be many killed to turnaround a country. No messy to all bad apples. Or the country will be controlled by opium sellers forever.
