Pixar’s Inside Out aims to give us a look into the inner workings of the mind of a child. For most of us fortunate enough to have seen it, it’s quite moving. You probably cried a bit watching it or held back tears with all your might because you didn’t want to cry in front of a child. But does Inside Out accurately reflect the child’s mind and offer anything real to help them navigate their problems? Or worse, does the movie mislead kids about their self-understanding?

I remembered years ago of extreme bright light from the ground when I was two years old. It was on a boardwalk, rather famous as a tourist site. As an adult I understood that at that age, my vision is much closer to the ground and the sunlight reflected would have filled my entire line of sight. 😅 Not every memory has to have a strong emotional component. It is what it is.

I feel like children don't think that different. I still think the same way as years ago. I react the same, i feel the same, i think the same. Since i am 5 i write everything i think about down and i did notice that it never changed.

As far as I know the two systems aren't working seperated from one another. So you don't "use" just the second system to make an important/complex decision and you don't just rely on system one for an impulsive reaction. Emotion is always there, at least in the background, as are other functions of our brain.
