The political rant at the end was frustrating. I come to this channel for an escape and for shared interests, not politics.
Saying the U.S. has “concentration camps” is a serious claim, and it comes across as uninformed and insulting.
It’s disappointing to even have to address this here. I’m unsubscribing and moving on.

Another tv show that’s a favorite from back in the day. I’ve seen you’ve done Friday the 13th: The Series and V. 😱 All beloved series.

When the movie Bright came out both the movie and the series Alien Nation immediately came to mind. I was surprised that reviewers hadn’t made more of the comparison, considering their parallels.

Except with Alien Nation the writers fundamentally believe that, while humans have great capacity for cruelty, we also can work together to break down barriers of systemic bigotry, subjugation, and oppression.

Bright (and Happy Time Murders coincidentally ) seem to believe that the only way humans can come together as a species is to collectively hate literal aliens. It’s deeply cynical and not accurate to actual histories of people continuing to defeat bigotry and discrimination.

Fun fact there are no concentration camps being built in the United States.

Thank you for covering this series, it was and still is a favorite of mine. I’ve watched all episodes, read all comic books and novels. I even created (what I think is still the only alien nation podcast) Alien Nation The Newcomers Podcast. I’ve rewatched the entire series at least 10 times over the years.

I remember it as a cop drama with some sci-fi stuff.

6:10 Roger Ebert knew film, but he kinda missed the entire point of this one.

I loved watching the series when I was a kid, not sure I was really old enough to get all the SUPER SUBTLE bits (they were not subtle, not even a little bit), but I really enjoyed it.

Never heard of a “concentration camp” you were allowed to leave whenever you wanted if you agreed to go back to your home country. Seems a little bit different than what they had in WW2.

I'd love to see you cover a show I never hear anyone talk about – Nightmare Cafe – it starred Robert Englund and takes place in a Cafe that exists between realities, almost as a 'weigh-station' for the recently deceased. Robert Englund played a character that could be an Angel or a Devil, and was just a customer dealing with the main cast, which was the cook and one waitress.
I think it went for two seasons, but I may be wrong. It was on late, and i remember it being more of a thriller/drama show than anything.

I remember the first time watching this as a kid thinking that Gary Graham (Sikes) was Mick Jagger 😆

I just realized that FOX is my network, I grew up before they were around and know almost every single show they have produce. Alien Nation was good one.
