Frederick Valentich's story feels straight out of a sci-fi movie. It's almost unbelievable that he was a struggling pilot, obsessed with UFOs, and then vanished after reporting an encounter. The theory that he staged it is interesting, but the final metallic scraping sound in his transmission is just too eerie.
