13:07 there is a Russian story called Pavlik Morozov, little boy Pavel lived in a village and as much as I can remember I think the parents were communist, the kid felt a need to snitch and snitched to the facists and the parents were killed, shows how easily kids are brainwashed to be loyal to the state.

Most evil secret police ever is an extremely high bar, and tbh, there have definitely been worse. Not that they weren't terrible, but let's not pretend the same methods weren't used even more ruthlessly in places like Cambodia, Uganda or the occupied territories in Palestine, just to name a few.

For whatever good qualities Socialism has, it seems like it would have been better if instead of pooling resources into spying on civilians they'd of just used it for stuff like clothing, jobs, shelter, or other essentials. I suppose you could say the same thing about Democracy to a certain extent.
