The whole "behind the scenes at some cool place the public doesn't normally get to see" genre of YouTube video is one of my favorites.

Same system is also used in ship engine rooms. We call it hyper mist system.
When there is an unsuppressable Engine room fire we had co2 system which reqd. complete closure and evacuation of the space.
And always a risk of killing someone due to CO2 due to not evacuating before activation.
But with hypermist no such dangers and only need to fill the tank with fresh water to use again. CO2 system vessel need to go to port just to replace spent CO2 cylinders.

I wonder if this will have any effect at all on a lithium battery fire? One hopes it will cool things down enough to protect people and tunnel structure away from the fire. I wonder if they’ve got a test tunnel somewhere that they’ve used to test a big lithium battery fire with the mist system. Also, of course, an oil fire. Would the mist cool things down enough, or would it just float the fire down the road.

My main takeaway from this is that "float valve" is the actual term for "the floaty ball in the toilet" XD

The footage was already so cool, must've been 100x cooler actually standing under the mist!

Bar is atmospheric, same root as barometric.
1 bar is one atmosphere of pressure. 10 bar is the equivalent of ten atmospheres of pressure.
150 bar is what you'd find deep underwater.

@14:17 that's the same as most sprinkler systems, they are not designed to put the fire out, just slow it and give time to evacuate and to a lesser degree responders to arrive. The only systems I normally hear of designed to actually put it out are the inert gas or similar systems.
