Math was my weakest academic subject up until and including high school. In college I got A's in all my math classes from pre-algebra up to Advanced Calculus and two calculus based physics classes. Math became my favorite subject, I joined 3 different math clubs, became a math tutor, and my calculus teacher told me my homework was so thorough and neat it was the gold standard he compared everyone else's homework against. What changed? In college you get a calculator. I wasn't bad at math I was bad at ARITHMETIC. It completely changed my perception of my own limitations. Even now I acknowledge that I could get better at arithmetic if doing that was important to me.

I think a good example for a variation of that is:

    "I just don't like xyz"

I used to think that about tedious work or tasks and topics that force me to engage with many details, but then figured out that i most likely suffer from ADD, ever since childhood, but never knew.

Which is shining a whole new light on many, many different things.

I'm sure there are plenty more variations that actually just cover some sorts of conditions and even Traumas, that REALLY would need to be taken care of, but don't get recognized for what they are.

    …Because of mindsets like these.

Though there's also the flipside and you very well can talk yourself into believing to suffer from traumas and issues you've never had.

That narcissistic level of expectation along the lines of:

"If i don't perfectly understand and immediately use xyz i'm stupid"

    Is far too relatable.

    Schools often even encourage it.

Not really surprising, considering how most teachers don't really know anything but school and think that the world is one big box office where everything just goes in a fixed and predetermined order all the time.

Hey, that could be me! Sadly the video wasn't about someone who realizes they're not the problem; it's the system, yet still feel no other course than to escape to gaming.

This is unparalleled. I had the privilege of reading something similar, and it was truly unparalleled. "The Joy of Less: A Minimalist Living Guide" by Matthew Cove
