The past two decades have been jampacked with multiple movie franchises focused on teens stuck in some kind of game-based dystopia where their lives are at risk and everyone is dressed in gray. Along with The Hunger Games and Divergent, The Maze Runner is definitely on the list of the most well-known within that genre.

The Maze Runner definitely raises some questions though. Like did they REALLY try everything to reach the top of those walls? How much time did these people spend naming things? How do they know what grievers are if they only come out in the maze at night, and nobody has survived a night in the maze? Do any questions get answered in this movie?

To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to The Maze Runner.

Erm actually ☝️🤓, the Grievers don’t give them the flare they just give them a simulated virus that makes them irritable and angry, murderous.

If u get stung by a greiver u don’t get the flare, it’s just the changing. The flare travels by air, but in the movie Winston gut hurt and got the flare.

I mean, pretty sure if you take the number of people in the Glade, add the number of dead people in the glade, and you'll get the number of months this place has been active. Then apply the interval of the changing sections to divide the months into cycles, then finally divide the entire length of time by the length of a cycle, and use the remainder to figure out which number is first in the code.

It just occurred to me. Wouldn't it actually be an interesting plot if they got to the top and found that it is still changing or something? Like that would be a good plot device…

So something I had hoped Ryan would pick up on is this concept that in a post-carcity society with limited resources the government built this hugely elaborate and enormously complex concrete maze covering hundreds of square kilometers, easily amount to billions of tons of concrete and billions of dollars to construct over several years just to test a couple dozen teenagers to see which are more resourceful. I just feel like effort could've been put to something a bit more time-saving and lower cost given they're on a clock to find a cure for this deadly disease and maybe just designed a questionnaire or something.
