Physical media may take up space but the knowledge that it won't be randomly ripped out from under you for monetary reasons is worth the space taken, in my humble opinion. And also knowing that rewatching my Blu-Ray copy of Sorcerer's Stone that I've owned since 2010 won't put my money into a piece of shit TERF's pockets is very nice.

One of my favorite songs ever is lost media in the sense that it only still exists because itd on the og DVD and (used to be) prime streaming of supernatural and for some reason the record label died WITH the songs rights so to listen I can't use song streaming I gotta find some smucks 6 month old (because copyright takedowns) illegal upload on YouTube.

Crazy calling 40s music bad when it was the peak of Big Band-style music; from Benny Goodman to Glenn Miller, Ted Heath, and even the duke himself Ellington, there were bangers in the 40s.

String of Pearls, "Sing, Sing, Sing", Take the A-Train with Ella Fitzgerald, Harlem Nocturne

    all bangers

Got you, Tuggeroni. Courage is on Prime streaming. It should be on Max, since that’s owned by WB who also owns CN. And that’s such a weird sentence to write when I remember them folding for CW and now they own like half of everything. But Max clearly hates us.

ive noticed i wont listen to new music on spotify coz its easier to just put my playlist on, but when i buy a cd for an album, i listen to the whole thing. since i've started buying cds (for really cheap) i've found so many new albums and artists i like, and i never used to listen to full albums.

going out to buy an album on cd i've been wanting to listen to is also so fun, like i went on an hour walk to my town centre to buy three cheers by mcr on cd and the whole way home i was so exited to listen to it, i feel like you don't get the same feeling with spotify.

Copy copy copy. By that I mean yo-ho, wouldn't download a car.
I call it copy-catting because that is what it is. You're not taking something away from someone else. You are making a copy. No one loses their car if you copied it. They still have their physical vehicle and now, you have one too. Not only is it a stand against the entire situation that is intellectual BS (most especially in crap like medicine and science, things that should be considered common inheritance to all humans as it has to do with universal betterment) but also record keeping of human culture. Including various lost cultural markers. It's important to archive and save history. Otherwise we lose the grand libraries of history. And what's really neat about digital copying is that there is no degradation problem with each succeeding copy. When you back up or move files, you are copying them. Moving doesn't seem to work in digital space. Almost everything is a copy.

Physical media is cool, but it degrades faster than digital. Honestly, backing up both is probably best.

I also argue things that become pop-culture move into public domain, IE certain popular songs, like happy birthday or other references. You shouldn't need to pay royalties to reference these things when they are at the level of being ubiquitous. Ownership of ideas and concepts doesn't make sense for society. And I get that copyright was meant to help the little guy, but it just plain doesn't. Not when you can lobby, money talks and whoever has the best lawyers wins regardless of if the law was actually on their side. Because law is not hard. Something being against the law only matters when it is enforced. This is why law is so tricky. There isn't some divine otherworld push to keep it. Only law that has that is laws of physics. And that's not some divine control, it's just reality.
