The Internet’s Deadliest Video

In 2012, grainy cell phone footage leaked online showing a small group of women and men dancing after a wedding. Despite appearing harmless on the surface, many have since claimed that the release of this footage directly caused the deaths of each of the women shown within it, along with several others. In an incident known today as the 2012 Kohistan Video Conspiracy.

The discourse in the comments is worrying, some of you really think that this type of treatment with women is something you can only find far away and that your 'culture' could never, please let this story be something that opens your eyes to see not only the absurdity of extreme misogyny, but also how we, in our cultures, have misogyny too, just as absurd as this one.

Please never make a video talking about Islam related stuff, you're only pushing hate and possible future attacks to our people. If you call singing and dancing and free mixing "innocent", say that in a video unrelated to Muslims or Islam, we don't view it as "innocent"

A day after uploading, this video is already close to breaking a million views. Perhaps there is still hope in the efforts of bringing these monstrously evil people to justice.

As a Pakistani viewer, seeing this topic covered on Nick's channel brings me a great deal of sadness, because this is not the only case like this, far from it, honor killings within rural areas are baked into their culture.

I remember very clearly seeing Afzal's interview from ARY News back when I must've been 10 or 11 years old.

A translated quote from a Muslim woman journalist who wasn't wearing a headscarf, and a man tried to put one on her: "Why is it Muslim men only remember Islam when a woman is involved?"

Wait, Nick. You said that the government sent investigators to find the girls and only had blurred out screenshots from the infamous video to work with. But then you tell us that a journalist managed to get her hands on the actual government photo? How does that make sense? Goes to show how sloppy the government is
