That's straight up not true. YikYak is not anonymous and people do get arrested over posts. Has happened at a university I went to (Truman State). Students are required to sign up with their school e-mail.

Being in a high school show choir during peak yik yak was honestly wild. People anonymously posting hate and death threats over someone getting a solo they wanted and dropping secrets abt one another it was nuts. Me personally, i jist posted the most empty mens restroom on any given day during each break.

This really makes ya think. The straight white Christian male self victimization over a movie casting a straight Hispanic Christian male while this type of shit exists… Just sayin

Anonymity is too important to get rid of. Also nothing is anonymous on an app lol, the servers track your device and log every post you make. So yikyak is just choosing not to punish users. Anonymity is your only guaranteed way to tell the truth in a broken society without something evil happening to you. It has downsides like being a safety net for bullies, but its a necessity for things that are essential for a safe democratic society.

I was a college freshman in 2014. I sold my sweaty socks for $20 to a guy off of YikYak. Also got a date off of it. It was wild back in the day.

Unfortunately as a high school boy this shit went crazy at the sports meets. One of the boys on our team doxxed one of the girls rooms for “favors” but after going back to the sports meet it fizzled out in the smaller ecosystem of our school

In regards to the school violence threats, the app has nothing to do with it? The app is just an outlet like twitter, yt, tiktok, etc. If a person if going to go on a spree they will go on a spree. App can't the blamed for it. How many actual school shooters used the app to announce what they did? I mean shooters who posted and actually did the shooting? I don't have to look it up to tell you the answer is NOT MANY. Waiiit, so you are telling me someone being dumb enough to "announce" having a kill list saved the lives of kids at your school? Isn't that a great thing? Wouldn't those kids be dead if he hadn't!? Exactly, if anything the app is beneficial bc it leads to potential shooters being investigated and caught. I'd say many would prefer having undergone the "trauma" of knowing they were on a hitlist than you know actually being dead?

My god, why are you people so sensitive and soft? I'd understand if someone was actually slapping you as they said those things but words are just words lol. If you call someone fat and he is actually fat then that's not bullying. You are simply stating facts. Same with calling a person black, indian, chinese, whatever. Just quit being so weak minded. You are pathetic for letting wide generalizations based on your skin color or whatever get to you.

Last year alone was an eventful year at my school we had at least 3 bomb threats and some guy rubbing his… giggle stuff…. If you know what I mean on the high school window so we had to go into lockdown for that then the first time something like this happened a guy brought a baseball bat to my middle school and was walking around for 3 hours I don’t know what the cops were doing and 1 bomb threat was like 2 hours… I have a feeling some of the bomb threats were related with yikyak..

My first year in college was actually really awful and I spent most of my time on yikyak screaming about random emotional bullshit and sometimes even made things up for sympathy. Unfortunately people started piecing together it was me. I didn't realize it until much later. I real wish I had never downloaded that app. I used it very poorly.

12:34 god i remember being in middle school and there was a bomb threat made about the high school. It was a small campus, so all the buildings where near each other.

The way the person threathened to blow up the school was making a post changing the words to that song "the clubs going up on a Tuesday"

out of curiosity, how many people use timestamps to skip sensitive parts? im not trying to be rude at ALL, but i’ve never skipped parts of yt videos, unless i found it horribly gut wrenching (animals, children, etc.). i may just be desensitized from growing up with unrestricted internet access.

It could've been a good app I think but with the bullying there should be a way to report people, for example, when people sign up they should have to create an account but say that the account won't be visible to anyone else so that theres a way to get the bully in trouble but still allow anonymity

I can't understand how people get upset from what somebody online says about them. Humans are just animals and one of the least important things on earth. Nothing they say could ever affect me on a personal level.

On my first note, YOU ARE LITERALLY SO BEAUTIFUL, GIRL. 😊 I love your hair style!!!!

Okay, now that I hyped a fellow gal up.

That's seriously messed up! I never had the app in school. But some of these apps just about destroy people… my baby sisters were both sexualy exploited and groomed online when we were kids. 😢 I feel like I am over protective but after the horrors I saw as a kid, s.a for 4 years by my cousin when I was a child and around the same time, I almost got kidnapped while walking home from a friend's house who lived just down the street from me, sexually exploited by two boys when I was younger and then abused by a boyfriend in high school.. I am very protective of my kids!!!! I let my oldest out of my sight alone with her grandma when she was under a year old and she came home with bruising and screaming/crying whenever we tried to change her diaper. I have never let her be alone with her again. Her grandma has since admitted she was doing drugs back then and doesn't remember what happened that day when she brought my daughter to her boyfriends house for a 'playdate' where the daughter and granddaughter of the boyfriend were very visibly Afraid of him… I let it be up to my daughter. It was never up to me ad a child. I never had space or support. So ad my daughters grown and come to me confused, we have talked together. And she decided to let her grandma back in but has her own boundaries she holds up! And we fully support her every boundary.

To anyone having gone through any of these horrible things, I'm sending all my love and support 🙁
