I don’t feel bad for the editor; the editing was genuinely good. The script and performances are being criticized, but the pacing and the way everything was put together was actually good. Never a dull moment.

I was in high school when everything shut down because of COVID and my school's drama club put on a really shitty production of war of the worlds that was literally just a bunch of bored teenagers reciting lines into a zoom call while all the interesting stuff happened offscreen. Glad they finally brought it to the big screen

There's so much wrong with the movie on a deeper technical nerdy level too. Like for one there's lazers blasting cities. You think the INTERNET is still gonna work? The power? The aliens just decided utility poles and cables should be spared at all costs?
And then facebook notifying that memories are being deleted… His dead wife's voice doing a tape (analoge) distortion as it's being deleted… man…. there's just so much pain in this movie.

This movie pmo so much because the concept of a disaster movie where a man desperately tries to stop a disaster from the other side of a computer screen is good. If this movie had a better creative team and lead this could be a genuinely heartbreaking masterpiece

if something like this happened in real life, I woudln't have to worry, because I'm subscribed to nord vpn, and they protect my personal data from cyber attacks. did you know that it would take a hacker with a really big super computer over A MILLION years to hack into my data because I am subscribed to nord vpn? Yeah thats true, its also true for blue alien bugs. they couldn't even DREAM of stealing my data, because Im subscribed to nord vpn. the only thing I'd have to worry about are the giant tripod aliens. but its ok, because if they kill me, I'll still have my facebook memories (kept safe by nord vpn because Im subscribed to nord vpn).
