The Forgotten Ninja Turtles Character – Gaming Mysteries

The inclusion of Ninja Turtles characters I was unfamiliar with in the SNES version of TMNT: Tournament Fighters led me to look up a lot of info about the characters. However, when I looked for more info about the character Aska, I found that she was allegedly created as an original character for the game. But in a Tournament Fighters beta, she is named Mitsu, which might reveal abandoned plans for the Ninja Turtles series as a whole.

    It's always funny to stumble upon a YouTuber who really has to be almost exactly my age. Like, seriously, we may have had different experiences growing up, but we both grew up with the same media. Turtles, then Power Rangers, then EarthBound, Chrono Trigger and FF6. That's one of the main things that keeps bringing me back to this channel.

    I think the plan was always for Konami to just make up their own character for the game.

    This isnā€™t even the only time they did this, years later when the games based on the 2003 series were coming out, the second game, Battle Nexus introduced a character called Slashuur and he was made specifically for that game, he was never in the 03 series, the comics, and was never brought back in anything else.

    So Aska almost assuredly really was just Konami making a TMNT OC like they would do with Slashuur years later.

    I have a bunch of Ninja turtles toys from when I was a kid and Wingnut is one of my favorites. Chrome Dome as well and thanks for his name. There's so many of them that I don't know the name of but their designed so cool. For instance theres this cook guy that has a sewer lid stuck on his foot. I have a bunch of Toxic Cursaders toys as well. Tbh the TC toys are way cooler but the NT toys was the start of the whole crazy character thing.

    I actually got to watch the very first Ninja Turtle's movie in theater. Our school class took a trip to see it. I also watched all the first cartoon episodes when they originally aired. I'm 45, born July 9th 1978. I always thought the movie version of Master Splinter was creepy, though I wouldn't admit it out loud lol.

    The Cowabunga Collection actually has concept art for the SNES version of Tournament Fighters. In there, Aska is still referred to as Mitsu, but that's not the only interesting thing there. Among the sketches is a lineup of the boss characters, Rat King and Karai, but also a third snake character between them who is crossed out. This guy has been identified as Scale Tail from the Gameboy game Radical Rescue, and like how Aska/Mitsu was meant to represent the movies, he was probably meant to represent the games prior to being scrapped.

    NES version of Tournament featured only one stranger character, and he is HotHead. It felt super weird since I never saw him in cartoons, and we were broke to afford comics. Now it all makes sense. Sure, he was weird, but he was so cool that I wished he would appear in cartoons constantly. He breathed fire and body slammed people and that is cool.

    I re-watched TMNT 3 and I liked it, it wasnā€™t as bad as everyone told me. But that year Mighty Morphine Power Rangers arrived and wiped everyone off for a while. Even WWE took a hit and they created WMAC Masters to compete around that time. That didnā€™t last long either.

    I just had a flashback to memories I forgot.
    I had so many of the ninja turtles toys.
    I remember I had that giant dome tank thing that krang lived in, and the eyeball on top rolled off (promptly lost forever)

    And I guess the turtles had a Zeppelin, for some reason.
    It was like a normal plastic toy vehicle, except with an actual big, thick vinyl balloon so the turtles could fly around.

    I remember somehow talking someone at a birthday party into filling the balloon with helium for me, hoping it would float.

    Unfortunately Iā€™m not a German Graf from 1910 and my calculations were off.
    It was just barely perceptibly lighter than when filled with air.

    The only comic I have from them is from when the first movie came out but damn it doesn't have the cover but I still got it but that's like the only comic I ever read from the Ninja turtles just a cartoons and toys as well

    You look like such a hipster that I bet that you'd leave your ocean side mansion because it's too current, and even though you like ice because it was water before it was cool, because you weigh more than an Instagram you'd die by falling through and into the mainstream, it's a shame that no one has probably heard of you, or at least those who have is a really obscure number, had to get my hipster jokes out, love your videos, stay classy America!
