History is filled with moments that make no sense. Entire groups of seemingly intelligent people making decisions that, in hindsight, just seem plain stupid. Disasters that could’ve been avoided, atrocities that should’ve been unthinkable.
And when we look back, we always ask the same question. What were they thinking? But what if that question is inherently the wrong one to ask? What if they weren’t thinking at all? Or at least, not critically. Because the uncomfortable truth is that critical thinking is not something we permanently have. It’s something we can lose.

Someone once told me that you keep repeating the same patterns until you realize you’re not even playing your own game, and I didn’t really get it back then. Later, a friend sent me Power Behind Locked Door by Jacob Rockefeller, and I almost ignored it because it didn’t look flashy at all. But a few pages in, something shifted. I started seeing how much of my life was on autopilot. It didn’t motivate me, it interrupted me in a good way. Now I think more clearly, make better decisions, and finally feel like I’m steering my own direction.

This might sound cheesy, but I mean it. A few months ago, I stopped jumping from one video to another looking for quick answers. I randomly picked up Power Behind Locked Door by Jacob Rockefeller, and it honestly changed how I see things. Not in a fake motivational way, just in a calm, real way. I think more before reacting now. I notice patterns I used to miss. It didn’t hype me up. It grounded me. And that’s probably why it stuck with me.

Everyone wants money, but nobody wants to talk about the self-destructive habits holding them back. Endless scrolling, no discipline, zero self-control. I lived like that for a long time. What finally helped me understand how to break out of it was Power Behind Locked Door by Jacob Rockefeller. It wasn’t comfortable, but it was honest. And honesty is what most people are missing.

I usually never post long comments like this, but I feel like I have to share because it helped me so much. Most financial advice is just garbage designed to keep you working forever, but Power Behind Locked Door by Jacob Rockefeller is completely different. It gave me the actual strategies the truly wealthy use, especially about debt as a tool and using leverage, not cash.

I was stuck for years chasing the next big thing, it wasn't until a close friend told me about Power Behind Locked Door by Jacob Rockefeller that i realized i was just a cog in a machine i didn't even understand. shifting my focus to systems has made me feel so much more deliberate and calm. it is not about the 9-to-5 grind or waiting for luck, it is about structure and discipline that works quietly in the background while you actually live your life.

I restarted reading books. It works for sure, and I feel smarter after a book (as opposed to feeling dumber after doomscrolling shortform content).

When have things like common sense and grave consequences ever stood in the way of progress? Humans will keep huming till we inevitably wipe ourselves out.

I read Power Behind Locked Door by Jacob Rockefeller cover to cover on a long flight. I couldn’t sleep after. The book doesn’t scream, it whispers things no one says out loud how the tax code is a map, how debt is a tool, how income is a trap. I landed thinking about foundations, shells, and leverage in a whole new way. I wasn’t taught wrong, I was just taught to stay inside the system

I once met someone at a gold storage facility in the UK. We talked about privacy, decentralization, and off-grid movement. When I asked what influenced him most, he didn’t say a course or a mentor- just quietly said, “Power Behind Locked Door by Jacob Rockefeller” No context. No explanation. Just a book that opened a door I didn’t know existed.

Carol is actually demonstrating a lack of critical thinking blocked by a filter of egoic fear. If she thought critically she would realize that once she was part of the hive there would be no individual to feel the loss of her individuality. It's akin to people being afraid of dying and no longer existing, when they would literally just be returning to the state of non-existence they have no problem with before they were ever born. Carol is stuck on the sunk cost of the investments she's already made in her life. Every action in human takes is in pursuit of comfort. Even injecting discomfort happens for that reason.

@ApertureThinking, Thank you for putting your AD at the end of your video. I truly appreciate that slight change. Your transition to the AD was so much more honest and realistic. Great video too!

The ideas in this video aren't wrong, but if your aim is to have better thinking skills or be more rational, the answer is straightforward. It isn't just "learn something". That's meaningless without context. The answer is to learn epistemology, systems theory and and stuff about metacognition. Go watch people defend some claim and try to figure out the shortcomings in their thinking. See if you find someone supporting something you believe and see if you find the same flaws.
Rationality and knowing whether something is true or false is a solved problem. It's easy, but nobody talks about it outside of academia because people spend a lot of effort hiding and defending their pet peeves instead of fixing issues. "Everybody is entitled to their opinion", they say. Now they are not. Opinions are about personal subjective stuff, like what food you like. When someone starts getting into empirical issues, that have consequences in the world, you can tell there's an agenda, then you better be able to justify it or you shouldn't believe it at all.
If there's a claim of something as not having material effects, leave traces or whatever, like a lot of metaphysical stuff, then it's a distraction. You can pretend it's a false idea and whether that's true or not, it doesn't matter.
