Fun fact: Maxin considered his invention potentially life saving, since it would turn all war into just couple guys shooting each other far away. He believed no sane person would make soldiers run towards someone wielding, no one would be that heartless. Man was he wrong

26:40 in modern warfare, most of the deaths aren't caused by infantrymen with assault rifles, but by artillery shells fired over the horizon.

Deadliest weapon: high explosives in general for me.

Also, you can't detonate a nuke without compressing the core with HE

What about a rifle? The difference between a musket and a rifle was HUGE. The range and accuracy of a rifle outmatched the musket because… you know…. you can actually aim a rifle lol. Those musket balls made hitting your target after a certain distance impossible.

The first really was just a rock. It is genus defining. No other animals except hominids can throw anywhere close to as well as we can. Much stronger primates are much worse at throwing.

All these eras are generally defined around European history and completely disregard rest of the world. What's funny is the fact that European civilisations came up much later than other global civilisations. Hahaha

Early guns were actually inferior in range, fire rate, and accuracy compared to bows, but they were still chosen because it’s far easier to use. Training an archer to hit a target at a hundred yards takes years. Training a musketeer to volley fire takes mere days. This meant that even though a trained archer at the time was an overall more effective fighter than an early musketeer, an army that used primarily archers could not replace fallen archers as quickly as an army that used musketeers, nor could archers be trained quickly to scale up forces in times of war the same way. All of Human history shows us that in war numbers do in fact matter quite a lot and it was for this reason that the world focused on developing firearms over continued use of bows en masse.
