Now the question is: why are we intervening in Venezuela like this? What is the Monroe Doctrine and why is Trump newly obsessed with it? Here’s what history tells us about intervention in Latin America.

I posted on twitter asking, "Who would you like to work with to do a video about Iran?" I want to apologize for the question. I could just delete the comment. I decide to acknowledge my error. I wrote comments on a few military Youtubers about "only here to see the Freedom class LCS get an opportunity to prove their worth". I am a veteran and know the subject of this video and what is going on in Iran is not good for America. I still have (insert what you think is appropriate) to think military tech is cool.

Not a single mention about the tortures and state terrorism that the Maduro dictatorship was doing. As a Venezuelan I know that Trump does not care about human rights, but the supposed proggessive left care even less about the Venezuelan people

Trump didn't arrest them he rescued ,,have you seen any videos confirming they're in a prison in ny,,what is basicly happening is an annex so they don't have to preach a war on drugs to the American people. Now they can continue the big profit gains in the transporting of drugs

    Hey listen first of all
1.This is not the first time that the Monroe Doctrine has been renamed because it’s been renamed by President Harry S Truman.
2.This is about oil because China has been trying to steal it let alone the fact that Trump is trying to protect their oil revenue.
3.President Trump had everyone celebrate instead of rioting in the streets trying to kill him.
4.President Trump even got approved by Maria Corina Machado. Saying how happy she is that he did this and that no one else could have done it. That’s why she presented her Noble Peace Prize to him considering that he was nominated in the beginning.
5.President Trump is literally Venezuela’s hero for the fact that people in America said that they would rather have Maduro as their leader. When in reality they never got a Dictator in the first place.

I’m Brazilian and I was not at all aware of the rhetoric employed by Monroe in and Roosevelt, I was utterly shocked by it.
The U.S. keeps meddling so much the political affairs of Latin America, it is really difficult to assert sovereignty in our historical processes. Be it through US-backed ruthless dictatorships in the Cold War, espionage of our leaders, and now the return to use of hard power.

I’d like to share one episode in recent memory thay really hammered how things could be different for us: the blocking of Twitter in 2024. The Supreme Court of Brazil suspended X in the territory following Musk’s refusal to take down far-right posts and accounts which incited violence and were linked to the 2023 attack on Congress. Though controversial, a month without Twitter in the whole nation made everything seem normal again. No bots spreading misinformation, no overt hate speech, no incels, no edginess, nothing. It just felt like we escaped the crazy, dangerous billionaires who set out to spread chaos and undermine democracy. Just honest journalism on the television and we were the only country on Earth to escape that madness, however temporarily it may have been. With how much social media has been reshaping (or deforming) the democratic processes around the world, it really felt like we regained something from banning Twitter.

I guess the way forward should be aligning with what Mark Carney said in Davos: pragmatic multilateralism and trying to escape the US sphere of influence.

It doesn't make sense for it to be about the oil – but Trump's brain is quickly dying and he frequently, nigh unto constantly, performs based on conditions decades out.

Yes, it's about power, but I believe oil is how Trump sees that power – because money is power and he idiotically thinks he can get a lot of money from Venezuelan oil.

I made it to the end. You’re kinda right. It’s not wanting more oil, it’s wanting to stop Venezuela from dumping more oil on the market now that they figured out a way to refine it. It’s about preserving the value of the dollar.

15:08 – And, in clearer and shorter words, "your business is nice; pity it would be, to see it destroyed. You have such a lovely daughter; shame to see her come to any harm. So, just remember to properly pay us your due PROTECTION fees every weekend, and we will protect you, and make sure that you, and your nice family, shall never come to any harm. Or Else".

A Restaurant in Palermo, or a country in Latin America, the principle is the always the same… in a World where might makes right.

Well, you went so far as to claim to know why Trump did this and didn't mention the Epstein files. And here I was, going to rename Lake Maracaibo to: "Lake Maduro is a really bad person, but at least he's not on the Epstein list". Is that not context? A dictator using the distraction of a foreign war is an oldie, but goldy.

But that is not the main point I wanted to bring up in this post, it's the "It's about power" remark. This is a nice sounding, but inherently vague and abstract to the point of being pointless. It's like watching a really obtuse move like Eraserhead and afterwards saying that it was about the meaninglessness of modern of and man's inhumanity to his fellow man. Sure, I guess. Despite already bringing up the ghost of Epstein, and despite the threat that you told everyone to clown emoji me, I am going to address "It can't be about oil, because that would be stupid" remark you made. That is basically an argument from incredulity. Basically, "I can't believe Trump would do this thing, because that would be really stupid". Well, guess what? Trump is really stupid. Incredibly really stupid. And you could argue that one should be cautious when trying to guess the mental motivations of another person because it is so difficult to get into the head of another person. But guess what? Not only is Trump really stupid, but he also has no filter. The stupid MF just can't not say the quiet part out loud. He's as much as said it's about the oil publicly many times now. He can have several motivations, and they can all be really stupid motivations. Whether or not you believe that is not relevant. At least you did say something like: "Trump's a Gemini, and that is so like a Gemini". So I will give you that.

This is late and wont be seen but one reason it IS about the oil is they want to have a supply of oil they can tap from at will if they disrupt the oil supply coming from Iran in the case of a war. I know its not the only reason but it is a reason.

Thanks for bringing the facts Leeja! Our Constitution was never designed with an imperial standing army in mind, but once you divide the world into imperial and senatorial provinces, into imperial core and frontier, then it is difficult to reign in a truly out of control executive. Yet the US has been fine with expansionist meddling since 1845, and now the Imperial Boomerang is coming back to bite us…sooner than even I expected with this video now that Renee Nicole Good has been killed. https://youtu.be/FzmNj59BSq8?si=DDDJZS_QkGOyMH9N
