whenever any restaurant goes "public" with shareholders, that's usually the beginning of the end. It usually goes downhill from there. "Shareholders" have no idea how to run a good restaurant.

Those bread sticks cost them pennies. What the private equity people fail to realize is that for $1 per customer in bread sticks, they created a meal that was filling where customers took home leftovers and left satisfied wanting to return again.

Ever since the Dodge v. Ford Motor Co. company’s are forced to cannibalize themselves trying to reach infinite profit growth but it’s just not sustainable in the long run. USA doomed itself in 1919 unless we can overturn that ruling

One time when I was a kid, Olive Garden had their endless pasta bowl and I tried to eat as much as my friend who was twice my size. I then proceeded to barf all over the front entryway of said Olive Garden. Not my finest moment… 😅

The chain-ish restaurant I miss from the late 90s is Garfield's that fried brownie sundae was amazing. And Steak & Ale. They were the place to go for prime rib & good salad bar, not just pre-made house salad. With baked potato side & they had great bread.

Fantastic video Phil. Love the effort put into those retro ads. Predictable as always to see that it was investment bros who came in with the idea of removing the endless breadsticks in the name of penny wise pound foolish corporate optimization.

The breadsticks aren't as good as they used to be. It was my birthday restaurant, and I still try to go every birthday, though it usually doesn't work out. In any case, that is just to say that it isn't just failed memory of the sticks, but that they are in fact different, in my opinion. But the rest of the meal and experience (excepting the Ziosk) is great, and my daughter agrees!
