The Albrecht brothers are really a rags to riches story here at Germany. The war really tore the economy and society apart and with their father gone in the war they had to make their way. It's not uncommon here for elder people being "cheap". They knew first hand how it is to have nothing and to save everything

Aldi sucks. The reason the food is so cheap is because it’s generic. Sure they have some name brand items here n there but nothing special.
