I was one who paid the $7.99 for Musi years ago. I still use Musi every week to listen to all kinds of videos… including this one… without ads, and it gives me the ability to listen without video or my phone screen on. It works great!

I got a new phone and transferred all my stuff to my new phone, then wiped my old phone not realizing that Musi will no longer work on my new phone. It’s so frustrating and annoying and sad. I want to scream, yell and cry.

15:29 well, here's an even cringier idea: the use while the phone is locked should be a native feature, even with youtube non-premium. Removing ads? Downloads? Sure, pay-wall them.

The difference between music and games is that finding physical copies for old games is more expensive (and you have to find the console or a PC that can run them, I can't run some of my old PC games on my new laptop) and the companies who own the rights will sell them to you again like it's brand new, music probably has a lower financial barrier of entry

The reason I loved Musi was the EQ band it provided, many music sites don’t have one and if they do it doesn’t have the full range of frequencies like Musi does, you can literally decorate albums how you want you can rename them and put your own cover arts on them, you were able to change the colors of the buttons on the app, you can rename songs, you can sing along because genius was attached to Musi, a one time forever ad free payment, you had crossfading, playback speed, and you can even save multiple custom EQ modes that app just had it all but the only time it came a problem was when there was a song that was age restricted you were forced to listen to it on the actual YouTube app other than that Musi had it all I really hope they bring it back man it was amazing

I think musi is trying to argue since that the money doesn't directly come from people playing the songs (that are from youtube) they aren't making money from the videos, they are only making money from people being on the app, regardless of whether they play music or not since the ads musi plays aren't dependant on you actually playing music, just having the app open

but that's not how that works lol

YouTube premium is roughly $250 a year when Musi is $6 one time forever. Musi was for the people. All of these companies, apps, artists already have so much of our money. Just want to drain us for every dollar they can. Smh R.I.P Musi..

There is another app like Musi, called Demus. Hope YT and Apple are gonna take it down. They have their own ads and dont show the YT Music ads. And they also have a one time payment to remove ads or even a monthly subscription(very cheap…still sus)

revisiting this concept after AI crawlers and AI browsers consume web content pretending to be people, violating ToS's.. is it really such a controversial take that people have a tool to do this on the client-side device instead of at an industrial scale by these AI companies for some agentic-operator to provide answers?

I used to use Musi a lot to watch ASMR videos at night cause I would be able to turn my phone off and still have the sounds play and also this make me able to stream remixes and certain live performances of songs I really liked

So it's not available for android, you can't access it through your web browser even on a desktop or laptop computer and although it is exclusively for iOS it's not even available in the App Store at the moment and it had to be remove. Other people are complaining that they already paid $6 to remove ads and I guess they need to have the in-app purchases through apple and so I guess people are having to pay money again or something and are mad.

I don't see how they can do this are you paid 699 one time and get songs ad free when YouTube charges $13.99 a month for YouTube premium that removes ads. Why would YouTube just let people pay a one-time fee of 5.99 somewhere else and listen to the music that's on there when they're going to make less money because ads are not on there any more.

I use musi in late middle school high school for its easy use of concert band music band music that I couldn’t find on like Apple or Spotify. It was a really huge convenience for concert band.
