AI has very much been at the forefront of everyone’s mind lately, especially with the announcement of a NEW Beatles song… but what do we know about it so far?

It sounds better with multiple plays and it has some emotional resonance due to the history of the song, but it ain't The Beatles. Perhaps an echo.

There was an initial release of the John Lennon vocal track which I thought was very poignant and I am looking forward to the release. But as you say in so many words, the recreation of Lennon's voice would be off putting. It would be just a cartoonish attempt and not an honest piece of John Lennon's musical archive.

I wish they'd just leave it alone. One listen and then forget it.

Pretty sure we are talking about Now and Then which was abandoned on Anthology 3 because the demo cassette has a constant buzz and was even less complete than Free as a Bird.

I'm hoping its the best Beatles reunion song; the others were great. Will be a very exciting day, may come with new CD of remixes?

I understood that George Harrison didn't want to complete 'Now & Then' for the Anthology series as he thought it was sub-standard, so this appears to be the last in a series of MacCartney disregarding George's wishes and doing what he wants! There's quite a few AI recreations of this song already out there, so a definitive Beatles version is at least preferable to those.

I look forward to hearing it. Such a shame John and George aren't actually with us to get together with Paul and Ringo, but it is what it is.
The Anthology project and "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" were mid-'90s. I can still remember an interview where George Harrison said with a grin, "Maybe someone will find my crap demo tapes when I'm dead and make a hit song."

I'm dying to hear it! I can't wait!

One way or another eventually it's all gonna happen. Why not? I'd be more concerned if no one was interested. The Beatles are cultural icons and for many sacred cows. All this stuff reminds me of the folk purists protests over Dylan going electric. As for this track, The Beatles, had a major input into making the recording studio a band member in the first place. Pepper etc. Don't see the problem if McCartney, Starr et al use what technology is available right now to do it again. As long as humans are controlling the machines and not vice versa.

Regarding your speculation about enhancing crude live recordings via AI, it has already been confirmed that Peter Jackson is working on The Beatles Hamburg tapes with a view to releasing them in much improved quality.

John is not turning over in his Grave. He &
All the Beatles welcomed new technology & mixing old with the help of George Martin. If Giles can help to do
It. Do we not pay & ENJOY HEARING COVER BANDS MINMICK THE BEATLES at different stages?? We just want to savor & relish their Music & their voices & playing instruments & their choice to arrange the actual completed song. Get over it ppl. The world has been chging daily for hundreds & thousands of yrs. If it means keeping their voices alive & the original BEATLEMANIA FANS( all aging as fast as Paul & Ringo) would love it as a FINAL BEATLE ULTIMATE GIFT. A BOOKEND TO
SHE LOVES ME, PLZ PLZ ME & IWTHYH. WHAT FANTASTIC JOY‼️SO VERY
MUCH LIKE WHAT WE FELT & ANTICIPATED every single & Lp, Movie, Concert or Tv appearance. I for one am 71yo. I was 14 yo when I saw my only BEATLE CONCERT IN 1966 that chged my life forever. I am super happy that they wish to do this.
My last wish would be for SIR PAUL TO BE MADE A LORD PAUL MCCARTNEY very SOON FOR ALL HE HAS DONE FOR THE UK & the entire WORLD, thru HIS such incredible talents & humbleness.

My Mum & Dad bought me Please Please Please Me in 1963 , my first introduction to The Beatles , have been a fan all my life , at the age of 71 , to think of another new track , Bring it on !

The earlier Beatles songs you mentioned were not released in the late 80s but in 1995 and 1996 respectively.
As for this new one, I don't have a problem with it. The A.I. isn't composing the song or altering what's on John's original demo.
If anything, I only regret that it's such a downbeat song. It doesn't seem right to say goodbye to the Beatles with a slow, minor key ballad…

October 16, 2025 at 4:32 am
It will be interesting to hear. But I think it goes back to other bands or artists who have passed and they supposedly keep finding new songs. Plenty of Freddie Mercury and David Bowie out there I guess. Just not sure how I feel about this
@CaseAgainstFaith1
October 16, 2025 at 4:32 am
Using technology to pull out what John ACTUALLY did from a bad recording seems completely valid to me. That said, I figure the song isn't another Strawberry Fields…

Nothing revolutionary, did the same with Buddy Holly's demos sixty years ago

Hmmm…I liked both Free as a Bird and Real Love. Now and Then, from the demo, sounds like, at best, it could be made into a piece of 70s soft rock. Ultimately, the jury's out until we hear the song. After this, please, no more Frankenbeatles…

I am not the least bit interested in AI generated music. I'd rather support a real band, playing their real instruments playing with emotion and conviction sans auto-tuning which makes me cringe especially when over-compensating for lack of talent.

Nothing more than a money making exercise. I steer well clear of AI.
@wardka
October 16, 2025 at 4:32 am
I will wait and judge the track on its own merits or lack thereof. If The Beatles truly wrote the piece and this is cobbled together from some sort of demo, then it's legitimate. If the AI is doing much of the "composing," in other words plagiarizing from a very large data set, then it will just be a technical curiosity. So far AI on its own has not delivered any music very innovative or moving to my ears.

October 16, 2025 at 4:32 am
I'm less concerned with AI applied to music as I am with artificial manipulation of news, personalities and events.
However, due to the band's significance, and depending on it's final execution, content & the context given on release (and in the future), this example may tread uncomfortably close to re-written history .

Thinking back 15 years ago when Vanilla Ice made the most profound statement about modern music: "The last original music and cultural decade was the 90s. Music and everything else since then has been all about computers". He was right. Now I'll add this:: AI has consumed music and it will consume all of us too.

Can't wait to hear the new song. I appreciate your insight on the larger implications of AI on original music.
Please keep up the good classic music fight! I'll be watching and listening.

Meh. Not only is the record vaguely fraudulent it is absolutely unnecessary. To paraphrase Ian McDonald said in "Revolution In The Head" – the longer you look, the more the magic fades.
I have a video made almost entirely by AI coming out soon. Believe it or not, it was much more work to make than one where you do it "manually".
@billbez7465
October 16, 2025 at 4:32 am
I too look forward to hearing the new song. I would also like to hear a collection of songs (or song fragments) from the "Get Back" sessions that are not included on any Beatles' album.

Honestly this is a non-story, all we’re getting is a remaster. Nothing nefarious in that

October 16, 2025 at 4:32 am
For AI just read studio trickery. Is there really any difference? Either way it will be interesting to hear it.

Great video-I , I am interested in hearing it as I think everyone will be. But honestly now that AI has left the barn – the good, the bad and the ugly are to follow. Humans can’t be trusted with anything.
@mattgaskell12
October 16, 2025 at 4:32 am
Everyone knows Lennon’s demos were crap recordings. All the AI is doing is cleaning up the noise on the tape. It’s not a big deal in terms of any artificial additions. It’ll be interesting to hear it!
@danschreffler1280
October 16, 2025 at 4:32 am
It's Now And Then. I'm glad they finished it. They had worked on it during the Anthology sessions but George lost interest in completing it. If you have heard the demo, it is very incomplete. Using what the Beatles called "blocking out the lyrics", Lennon merely scats a few lines that he presumably would have finished later. These lyrics will have to be finished. I'm no musicologist but even I know that more needs to be added to make it a full song. I think that's why George balked on finishing it but Paul always said he would someday. That day is here! Hooray!

As a massive Beatles fan I have to ask how many more scraps can be pulled from the Beatles carcass, we seem to be informed every decade that by some miracle that a discarded cassette in Johns apartment or similar has suddenly been discovered…call me a sceptic but I will stick to my treasured original albums.
@goinbzurk

A Beatle's song is a song the Beatle's wrote, played and sang together as a group with all input from all living members of the band and production crew! Not AI! Anything else is Bullshit!
