The Band of Heathens – 4 Songs & The Story Behind the Music

Presenting The Band of Heathens’ OurVinyl Session — four songs, stripped down and performed live.

The Band of Heathens bring their road-tested blend of Americana, roots rock, and alt-country to OurVinyl for a Live EP session featuring “Jackson Station,” “LA County Blues,” “Lead Don’t Follow,” and “No Direction.” Recorded live in studio with the full band, these performances lean into the weight of two decades of independent songwriting rather than polishing it over.

The Band of Heathens are an American band from Austin, Texas, founded in 2005 by Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist, who remain the band’s core songwriters through two decades of lineup changes. Now celebrating 20 years fully independent of a major label, the band earned Austin’s “Best New Band” honor in 2007 and a platinum certification for their single “Hurricane.” Their ninth studio album, Country Sides, marks the band’s 20th-anniversary statement in 2026.
