Someday, someone will make a video similar to this about how the US used Ukraine as a stick to poke Russia, profiting from weapon and energy deals in the process.
And people will have fun watching that video, pointing out how in hindsight it was so obvious…

"Standard Fruit" absolutely has to be a reference to Standard Oil. Probably where they got the idea for a lot of their business practices.
They're literally doing Robber Barons 2: Banana Boogaloo.

Maybe western is always bad but at least try to be a good influence, example like getting rid of primitiv, slaves on how to be productive and infrastructure for functional society than nothing. The native are more worse in handle his own citizens like pol pot and Africa corrupt government despite black skin race but still lack of sympathy for his people ☕

2:12 This type of moment is exactly why I respect Sam and tolerate EmpLemon. Emp can berate Biden and all of his pisspile but wont even sniff making fun of Trump because hes a coward. Sam pulls 0 punches on any homeboy who wants some

They are one of the three major companies that the term “Banana Republic” comes from, the countries where they operated were practically entirely owned by these fruit companies.

United Fruit Co, Vaccaro Bros and Cuyamel Fruit Co.

Chiquita Banana used to be called United Fruit Co.

1953 was a busy year for the U.S. overthrowing democratically-elected leaders who were trying to make their country's natural resources benefit the people instead of Western corporations — it's the same year we overthrew Mohammad Mosaddegh in Iran via Operation Ajax and turned Iran from a secular democracy into an authoritarian monarchy (and eventually a theocratic dictatorship after the Shah was overthrown in the 1979 Iranian Revolution).

It was near the height of the Red Scare; we even added "Under God" between "one nation" and "indivisible" — ironically dividing the "indivisible" one nation — to the Pledge of Allegiance because we were so paranoid about communism and therefore atheism by proxy (because totalitarian dictatorships like Russia and China don't want their people to have any allegiance above their party and country). If a foreign country did anything even remotely left-wing such as worker rights, universal suffrage, racial equality, social welfare, etc., we'd use the CIA to overthrow their government and install one more friendly to U.S. interests, even if we had to replace democracy with a dictatorship to do it.

But surely, THIS time the regime change will work out for everyone, right? Imperial blowback isn't real, right?

Never forget: the U.S. fights wars solely for the benefit of the wealthy elite, sacrificing American soldiers and foreign civilians to increase the profit of like 100 people who are already so rich they couldn't spend their money in 10,000 lifetimes.
