So in effect they're already in the asteroid field, only a less dense part of it.
And how did he calculate their odds of survival?
Did he extrapolate events upto the heat death of the universe and determine that chain of event the initiated by them entering the Astroid field, that they're already in, would inevitably result in their death at some undisclosed point in the future? š¤
