Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III – Angry Video Game Nerd (Re-Edit)

Cinemassacre | January 25, 2026

Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN) episode 18 and 19: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III review. This is a re-edit of the AVGN two-parter about the third entry in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film trilogy. In the movie the turtles find themselves transported back in time to ancient Japan. It has nothing to do with the game Turtles in Time, but they eventually added that name to the film.

We re-edited this episode so it could finally be on YouTube. Had issues with the movie clips in the past. There will be a new AVGN at the end of the month. Thanks for watching!

I wonder what made them have a story about the turtles going to ancient japan back in time, where They could had the turtles travel to dimension x,in order to rescue April, they take Casey with them, and They Fight krang, his army and super shredder who's back.

Maybe they thought it was too expensive, and went into low budget movie style, yeah the film feel like a made for tv movie that happens to have some actors from movies and Set within. It feels so disconnected from the first two.

7:27 it seemed like there was a period of time where adaptations were completely BENT on not following the source material. I feel like now we have the opposite problem of the source material being shit on.

I always liked that line, "help ima turtle and I can't get up."
Then I got older and thought, he's a ninja, ofcourse he can get up. I rationalize it as Donnie being sarcastic and it being his way of asking April to help him up.
My favorite part of the movie was also the end with Tarzan boy.

I can think of three movies way worse:
    The Force Awaken
    The Last Jedi
    Rise of Skywalker

The three worst movies ever made, hands down, those three movies managed to topple the entire multi billion dollar Star Wars empire and bring it to its knees because of Disney's hatred for their true Star Wars fans.

Must have been bad, as I didn’t even realize they made a third one. Loved the first one but had already started growing out of TMNT by the time the second one came around

Believe it or not, I recently decided that I would take Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III over the 2 Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies any day.

Sure, the design of the turtles in TMNT III looks like shit, but it's at least better than the hulking turtles we got in the Michael Bay produced movies.

Also, TMNT III revolves more around the turtles themselves, while the Michael Bay produced movies seem to revolve more around Megan Fox April O'Neil, well at least the first one (2014) does.

Months ago, I went to an antique shop in Niagara Falls and I found a VHS tape of TMNT III (dirt cheap price of $4.00), so I cracked and bought it for collector purposes and I am gonna keep my eyes peeled for VHS tapes of the first 2 movies to round out the collection.

I have the 90s movie trilogy on individual DVDs, the Blu-Ray set and the recent 4K set from Arrow Video, 2007 on DVD and DVD and Blu-Ray combo sets of the 2 Michael Bay produced movies and Mutant Mayhem.

    In all honesty…

#7: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
#6: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (or as I like to call it, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows, to avoid confusion with the unrelated video game of the same title)
#5: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III
#4: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
#3: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2007)
#2: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze
#1: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)

I am bummed out that The Last Ronin movie was shelved and that we're instead getting a reboot, which I am alright with, but I get the feeling it's gonna be more family friendly or at least kid friendly, however I am still willing to give it a chance.

I would much rather have a darker, grittier and more violent reboot TMNT movie with a PG-13 or even an R rating, but I would settle for an animated series that's geared more toward adults, but I get the feeling that kids would watch it anyway and then the Karen parents would bitch and complain that it's too violent and inappropriate for kids and try to get the crew to tone it down and make it more family or at least kid friendly, just like how they ruined the 90s movie trilogy.

To them, I say "That's why we have rating systems in place for movies, TV shows and video games, so you parents can determine what is and what isn't safe for appropriate for your kids. How about instead of blaming the product and the people behind it, why don't you guys do your fucking jobs as parents and make sure your kids don't watch or play what's not appropriate for them? Most parents are smart enough not to let their kids watch R rated movies."

    Sorry, I got carried away.

Gotta love how this reupload uses widescreen footage instead of the open matte VHS tape. It ruins the joke about the empty void below the TMNT III logo when there's no longer a space there.

I was 4 in 92 when I first watched Ninja Turtles. I was hooked all the way through to the 3rd installment. Its not hard for me to look past the new Turtle costumes and see them in their original light. When they first his screen you notice it but eventually you can look beyond it. At least for me and im a die-hard so maybe it was just the age. I thought they were all really cool.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 was garbage it sucked, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 was good, but to me Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 1990 movie was best one the Ninja Turtles in turtles 1 were way better looking than the turtles in turtles 2 and turtles 3 because the turtles in 1990 movie looked like real life mutant turtles P.S. Splinter looked better in TMNT 1990 movie in TMNT 3 No

I watched this movie on theaters here in Brasil. What makes this movie magical to me is that here, we had the same voices from the cartoon…and they were amazing and funny as hell… So I don´t have this bitter memory like AVGN…lol
