I'm pretty sure I've seen Seinfeld say that "the challenge" is part of why he usually works pretty clean. It's not that he won't swear, just that it feels to him like a bit of a shortcut — it's easier to get someone to laugh when you swear, so he wants to see if he can get the laugh without swearing.

At one point Mike crossed his eyes, or at least i thought he did. But one eye was closed, so I couldnt really tell, so I tried it myself, and took a selfie and sure enough, i can cross my eyes with one eye closed !
