Sending that.. ''letter'' is just pure comic relief for the tax office workers; does nothing of real importance, has no real impact.
The whole ''tax resistance'' movement is a joke in its current format; if 10000 people chose not to pay taxes, legally owed, they will go to jail. Simply as that. Now if 10 Million people choose not to pay taxes, the government has a problem it can't easily resolve (with imprisonment for example). But.. there will never be such a cohesion among people to get to a critical mass of 10 million people to agree on any topic. And that is how the system propagate itself.

i honestly wish i was taught about taxes growing up. so much of this is giberish to me. all i know is that i filed exempt and i don't even care if i get jailed. at least prison has beds, because i'm currently a white collar worker who is homeless. this world is fucked.

I've been itemizing my deductions since I started doing my own taxes. I am very fortunate to make enough to support some environmental organizations as well as my local food bank. It might only be a few dollars here and there, but it adds up over time. Always nice to be able to look forward to that refund (would be nicer to not pay in the first place, but I've already had one IRS audit and it was a pita to get them to admit I already paid what I should have 🙄really don't want to deal with that again)

"There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. Remember this. Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause. Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. And then remember this. The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that. And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire's authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this. Try." – Nemik's manifesto

I greatly appreciate what you're trying to do; your heart is in the right place. Our system & government is broken.

My issue with you is that you believe this is a "right vs left" problem. This is a class issue, not a political one. Trump is obviously corrupt, but so is EVERY politician & nearly EVERY member of the 1%, whether they are "right wing" or not. It's all a game to pit the average people against each other so the wealthy & powerful can stay that way.

Here's my one hangup with tax resisting: it doesn't actually stop anything. And I don't mean that the $5k I pay in taxes is just a drop in the bucket, because margins do matter. Rather, the Federal government's expenditures are almost never tied in any way to the Federal government's revenue. If Congress budgets $1 trillion for the Defense Department, the Defense Department is going to spend $1 trillion regardless of how many people pay however much in taxes. Treasury will just cut the check, and if there's a deficit they'll issue bonds to raise more cash. Taxes play into that process not one bit.

There's still the argument about not giving your money to an organization you think is doing reprehensible things, and that certainly has merit. But don't for one moment think that you're preventing anything from happening other than being passively complicit in the reprehensible activity.

The wealthy make their money differently than us peasants. Thats where we need to hit them. Capital gains. I honestly think we need to start executing these ghouls

Citizens United grants corporations, the same Ability to donate to political campaigns on a level no American can keep up with.

Corporations like this are the biggest welfare suckers in existence like Walmart collecting about a quarter of all Snap benefits while simultaneously paying their employees low enough where they qualify for Snap benefits.

We are Idiocracy… We are fervently idiotically fighting fir our own destruction, thinking we are. “MERCA!!”

I actually talked to a bunch of people because I do Uber and Lyft and I have a conversation about the fact of well if we give base necessities of living that means that we can explore and do more stuff and go to school go expand our society to be better to actually take care of the environment and people like well people will be lazy I'm like no we can take him the data from the pandemic yeah it's kind of skewed because poverty but most people went back to working Yes there is going to be a very low percentage but you know what we don't even need those people to actually work we are so over employed in this country that a fraction of the society could literally sit on their ass and do absolutely nothing and be fine there are people that just want to stay base of necessity.

There's an additional option though… and all it would take is everyone agrees for 2 weeks… Pay all of your bills at the start of the month and make sure to buy all the food you and your will need for two weeks ok… follow along with me. Then for 2 weeks… just don't show up to work. Don't leave home, and don't buy anything. For 2 weeks. It would cause such panic of the government and every system in place, that they would finally be forced to listen. And if they just panic then you can go out once more, replenish what you need for food and only food… and then do it again for the rest of the month.

The government can only stay in office for so long without a paycheck before people just start searching for another way of life. I want to remind everyone that we were officially Lord Farquaded on national television. Just saying…
