James Gunn is now running the show over at DC, and kicked off his new cinematic universe with Superman last year. Can the second movie really get this universe going strong with a big pull at the box office? No? Oh, okay.

Supergirl definitely raises some questions. Like how many times are they going to have her lose her powers? Why did Krem use a dart on the dog instead of something stronger? Why is Lobo in this?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to Supergirl. It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience.

The DCU is cooked. Nothing they have produced since Gunn took over is good. His Superman was the most disrespectful, character assassination I’ve seen in a comic book movie ever. I haven’t even bothered with Suoergirl (and that was just from her cameo in Superman). He needs to be fired, and we need another reboot.

😢awww no Ryan I was actually starting to enjoy this until u lied about the dog.its explained in the movie the poison used for the dog is actually used on humans for torture not to kill them the antidote is given to them afterwards she has 3 days before it works it's not a convenient placement

Man, Ryan REALLY dismantled the Supergirl movie. Sounds like a TON of bad decisions were made. I hadn't planned to watch it until it got to streaming so I could have something else interesting to read or do while I watched, and I feel vindicated about that now.

It's almost like the writer for this had no experience writing movies before… But that would be CRAZY for the 2nd movie in this new DCU gunnverse thing right?

My secret trick to enjoy crappy movies: watch the Pitch Meeting before you ever watch the movie that you know will be crap because you saw the trailer. then laugh AGAIN during the movie when I get the joke. I mean at this point you don't even need to actually see a movie to know how hollywood mangled an idea. Just hearing Ryan tear it apart creates aaaaaaaaalll the visuals I need and saves me like $130 on tickets and soda and popcorn and antidepressants and therapy.

when I heared about that you mention that krem poison crypto, I feel like a logical response would be that scene from invincble when thragg seen his planet explode…..

just krem doing the poison and then 2 hours later, his head is missing from his torso and the antidote taking, heck he was in a space bar stealing food and then 0.5 seconds later he dead, camera didn’t even caught it, feel like that probably be the most justified response

Supergirl is definitive proof Hollywood figures as long as you have a popular franchise, scripts are just expendable at best. Super convinced this is how the actual pitch meeting went with dumbass James Gunn and his production crew. Hiring a screenwriter with no experience except one documentary a few years ago. get a director that has no clue how to film a superhero movie. Make it as much as guardian of the galaxy as possible. Put Jason Omaoa in the film as lobo for no reason except fan sacrifice. Finally hire Milly Alcock who has no personality and make the character a drunken slovenly mess with zero redeeming factors. Even the look of the film itself is grimy and skeevy looking. The 1984 Supergirl film was corny and low-budget while being very outrageous. However, the filmmakers did try telling an earnest story which fit the franchise. Not to mention Helen Slater was an absolute angelic goddess as Kara-Ela aka Supergirl. Time for James Gunn and Peter Safran to get their walking papers for the DCU is pretty much derailed at this point. Unless Superman: Man of tomorrow pulls a Hail, Mary and turns the whole story around this universe is pretty much done!! Thank you, Ryan, for showing how not to make a movie and having badass blonde haircut to boot!!
