Dan Harmon the creator of Community and Rick and Morty created his own circular story writing structure. it is based off the Joseph Campbell Hero with a thousand faces (which I'm not exactly sure how Eurocentric it is) but it did really help me understand conventional story structure. Always glad to see someone subverting those tropes though.
