Stone Sour Just Did Something NOBODY Saw Coming

Rock Feed | November 1, 2026

Stone Sour have recorded new music with Jim Root for the first time since his 2013 exit. “Full of Empty,” an instrumental demo from the 2010 Audio Secrecy sessions, now has new lyrics from Corey Taylor and arrives November 20 on the Audio Secrecy 15th Anniversary Edition from Rhino. It is the band’s first new music since Stone Sour went on hiatus in 2020.

I never thought that I would say this… But, I am more stoked to hear this than I am for the next Slipknot album. They (Slipknot) will always be one of my favourite bands, But the last two albums haven't been as "Start to Finish" capturing for me as the stuff before them. And I was not happy when Jim got the boot from Stone Sour because his playing was part of what I loved about them. I like it all but it just wasn't the same vibe for me. To hear that Jim and Corey have finally come back around and are working in SS together again makes me more excited to hear that then the new SK album. Eloy joining them in SK though does still have me wanting to hear what they do together, but I am not as excited as I used to be with them.

Corey has probably figured out that Slipknot is done. Clown is going to ruin the band completely, so Corey decided to do one thing for Stone Sour that Clown would never do for Slipknot: he took Jim back into the band. Now, Stone Sour has half of Slipknot's musicians.

Goes to show that Corey is quite impulsive with his decisions. That's not good when it comes to the harmony and the future of the people in your bands. I remember in the early 2020's he was adamant that Stone Sour was done and was loving his own self titled stuff where he was completely in control of the entire process.
