Unfortunately Phil can never play drums again. But my dream (which will probably never come true) would be a reunion of Peter, Steve, Tony and Mike with Nic Collins(!) on drums (with the blessing of his father), performing the "Lamb"! And then recording one last NEW studio album in the style of the "Big 5" during their unforgettable years. With Phil doing the song´s arrangements, which was one of his many strength. One might dream… 😏

Love Steve’s playing. Saw him solo, it’s was fab.
It’s sad they couldn’t accommodate the genius Gabriel and make a couple more albums together.
Each member was so incredible in their own right.
I bought a ticket to see them right after Lamb only to find Gabriel wasn’t there!
Of course the music was wonderful, but Peter’s presence and performance was missed.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:15 🎶 Steve Hackett discusses the new "Genesis Revisited Seconds Out" CD and Blu-ray release, noting that it's better produced than the original mix of the Genesis album.
00:56 🎸 Steve Hackett talks about his contribution to the Genesis song "The Musical Box," adding guitar parts and experimenting with tape speed.
03:16 🤝 Steve Hackett reflects on the impact of the burgeoning progressive music scene and the influence of British blues guitarists.
07:04 🎵 Steve Hackett discusses his first solo album, "Please Don't Touch," and the diverse influences that led to its creation.
11:10 🎵 Steve Hackett talks about the song "Icarus Ascending" and the influence of transcendence and the afterlife on his music.
25:32 🤝 Steve Hackett mentions his friendship with Peter Gabriel and the possibility of future collaborations, although a full Genesis reunion seems unlikely.
00:00 🎸 Steve Hackett shares insights about his connection with fellow Genesis member, Peter Gabriel, discussing their work and respect for each other.
05:01 🎵 The interviewer asks about John Fogerty's statement that Scotty Moore invented rock and roll guitar. Hackett acknowledges the contributions of multiple musicians to the genre, avoiding attributing it to a single person.

15:21 📻 John Lennon expressed interest in Genesis, citing them as one of the true sons of The Beatles, along with ELO. Lennon even received Genesis records and had a connection with the band's music.
18:40 🎤 Hackett discusses Chrysalis' decision to pass on the "Defector" album, explaining that it was considered esoteric at a time when Chrysalis was moving towards a more pop-oriented direction.
21:31 🌶️ Steve Hackett humorously mentions that the song "The Fountain of Salmacis" was deemed "way too sexy for Italian radio," possibly due to its hermaphrodite theme and intense crescendos.

11:28 Roine Stolt had the Variax guitar that some people don't seem to like but I love the sound on that Liverpool version of Coastliners. The bass pedals were HUGE! It was a key treat on the Foxtrot at 50 tour.

i recently watched this video and Steve Hackett`s story about Brian Eno was interesting. Now Eno is again involved in the new Peter Gabriel-album – before this on "Love to be Loved" with Gabriel on his album "Us". Brian Eno is all around he also teamed up with Jean-Michel Jarre on at least one track of his latest album.

Steve, in the unlikely chance that you read this, definitely keep doing 'Can Utility and the Coastliners'! It really is one of the most underrated Genesis songs in that era and maybe even of all time. It's very powerful and more people need to hear it. So keep planting the seed. The more you play it, the more people will get turned on to it. It's my personal favorite song on Foxtrot for sure. 🥂

A note to the interviewer – I do not know your name, though I really appreciate your inquiry into Brian Eno's involvement with 'The Lamb'. I have heard a few different accounts on this subject and always wondered why he was not credited on liner notes on the album. Your interview on this subject helped clarify some of this for me. Thank you.

Thanks Barry. Steve is a real class act. I had the chance to chat to him back in the early 80's at the Manchester Apollo as he was putting his gear away after the gig, he's such an amiable guy who makes the time to chat about music with his fans.

As far as the roots of rock go Chuck Berry said a huge influence on him was Sister Rosetta Tharpe she is absolutely a truly amazing guitarist and singer Elvis was influenced as well as countless others great videos of her on YouTube the Queen of rock and roll . Rosetta was inducted in the rock hall of fame in 2017 she should have been one of the first entry watch her she is incredible

Somebody straighten me out…at the beginning of this video Steve is asked about the "remix"? of "Seconds Out"?…did I hear that right? And if so, can you actually hear Steve's playing now? Comes out in September?…who remixed or produced it?

What a fantastic interview. I learnt about 20 things I didn't know (Eno on Lamb for example) and, perhaps most importantly, this is making me listen to those early/mid 70s Genesis albums again with new ears.

The Everly Brothers served as my inventors of Rock and Roll. I was about 4 when my parents bought us a record player and one of the 45s they bought to play on it was Bird Dog. I played it over and over for days on end.

I've never listened to And Then There Were Three. I only bought one Genesis album after he left and don't listen to any of their post Hackett music anymore. On the other hand I have all the Hackett Genesis albums, including numerous bootlegs. They survived Gabriel leaving but when Steve left they weren't Genesis any longer. The nucleus, as he calls the three, were like Lennon without McCartney and lost the perspective that Hackett gave the band. They were no longer adventurous or interested in writing epic songs with shifting moods, time signatures, tone, etc. Yes, at least, still wrote prog 3 minute songs in the 80s, but Genesis wrote simplistic nursery rhyme type melodies that sold because the lowest common denominator could dance to it.

The interviews with Steve keep getting better and better. It seems like a nice chat between friends about music. Really enjoy the interviews. I still am holding out hope for a Hackett and Howe duo interview to not only plug which band was better but maybe to shed some light on GTR. I might be one of the few folks who still love that album even if it was an 80s product

Great interview! Steve is one of the artists who really wowed me when I first saw him live back in the 80s and I've enjoyed both electric and acoustic shows since, but I've never seen Genesis Revisited before so I'm really looking forward to the Foxtrot show next month!

Has anyone ever found any proof that John Lennon was a Genesis fan? It’s something that Hackett loves to say but there’s no documented evidence of it I’ve ever seen and no one else, even Hackett’s other Genesis band mates has ever mentioned it.

In all the interviews I've seen with Genesis members, current and previous, Tony Banks is the guy that strikes me as the stumbling block in a real reunion. He seems very bitter about the 5 piece days, not just with Hackett and Gabriel, but with the atmosphere in general. I can't picture him and Gabriel sharing a stage.
