This movies bad of course, but I never saw the total shatner ego the way everyone else says it has, at the very least, I see it more like shatner thinks the Kirk Spock and McCoy trio is awesome and it’s his own clunky love letter to the trio, so I kinda admire it for that.

28:42 I had the silver slanted box. It was very elegant and it came with six videotapes and one uniform brass pin. I sold the boxed set for peanuts on eBay years ago though I kept the pin for my costume.

There are other problems in STV that these men didn't mention such as how the Enterprise-A arrived to the center of the galaxy in a short amount of time, or what is a Vulcan Princess?
At one point Kirk says that he got lucky when he lost a brother once and got him back obviously referring to Spock as his brother, but his real blood-brother George Sam Kirk died at the end of the 1st season of TOS. Kirk should have said, I lost TWO brothers once, but I got one back. He directed STV and how could he not remember the original storyline?

26:58 He's completely wrong. In the TNG episode Evolution LaForge states that there hasn't been a systems-wide malfunction in 79 years referring to STV because Enterprise-A was having major problems. Next, in The Nth Degree, Barclay becomes super intelligent and takes the Enterprise-D to a place where there is a god-like alien similar to the one in STV, presumably they are the same species.

12:20 The seat actually IS a toilet with the lid down. If you look closely you can see the outline. The better question is, how would a PRISONER know if they're in spacedock? And why would they actually comply? If I were in the brig and knew we were in spacedock, I'd leave that bad boy open and let chaos ensue.

One thing about ST5 that does make sense is Scotty & Uhurua. She & Spock (he's not really Spock in the new movies, he's too emotional) make no sense. She's a lieutenant, a linguistics genius, a bad@ss. Who's she gonna go for? The ego driven captain? The cold fish? The mop top Russkie? No, she would go for bar fighting, scotch swilling, MacGyvering genius who can hold the ship together with paper clips and rubber bands.

I actually have grown to like this movie over the years. Of all of the original 6 movies, this one pays the most homage to the original series. I appreciate it for that.
