I enjoyed hearing your mention of Flippin’ Great Pinball as I recognized it from when I visited my kid at FSU from 2021 to 2025. Finley was a film student who frequented the amazing Cap City Video Lounge, which used to be right next to the pinball place before Cap City moved. Small world!

I don’t consider Atari a major game company. They make nearly all their money licensing old games from the 80’s like my Arcade.

Not interested in the Nova – It's the wrong screen size – I need 16×9 and at least 6". Since the screen size is the wrong aspect ratio and so small it wouldn't be a good choice for Game Native which would be my main use (as a low-cost steam deck).

I admit, I impulse ordered the Nova….hope it handles ps2 alright with 8 ram. Want it to be my forever portable along with the Gamestation Go. Hoping it lives up to the hype!

Ayaneo is always overpriced. WIth that chipset, it should be more like somewhere between $150 and $200. The $230 for the Retroid with that chipset and the custom screen they had made seems about right. This will handle every 4:3 system. If you're not interested in PS2 and GC emulation, you can get something that does PSP and under for a lot less money. The base 8gb will be fine for most people. You can also use it as a TV console for big screen gaming emulation.

The RAM crisis is a very real thing. Considering that… those prices are fair unfortunately.

Regarding Atari’s ownership of the service, Microsoft owns LinkedIn. If Atari is smart, they’ll let the service run independently. If anyone finds any shenanigans going on (misuse of the data, etc…) then it won’t succeed.

These prices are bonkers right now – I've been saving some money to one side since xmas and working it out – I can afford an xbox series x or a switch 2 but not both (which is wild considering I have nearly £1000 available)
$99.99 for Sonic / Sonic 2 when I can pick the originals up for less than £10 again feels strange to me.

You COULD go for one of those emulator handhelds…or you could go with Evercade products with licensed, physical cartridges, for much less. 🤔
