Should Joe Biden drop out? 1968 may have the answer.

Garrison Hayes | May 19, 2026

They say history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes—and 2024 is, no matter how inconvenient for an embattled Joe Biden, resonating deeply with 1968. To be clear, these two years, 2024 and 1968, are very different…. But from anti-war protests on college campuses to the Democratic National Convention being hosted in Chicago, these two distinct years, though decades apart, are drawing eerie comparisons.

After a poor showing in the very first presidential debate, Joe Biden has been faced with growing pressure to drop his bid for reelection. So in this video, we turn to history to see if that’s a good idea.

I hear ya but Joe Biden still woulda lost and we’d be in the same situation, minus the embarrassment of Kamala. So, well, damn. History rhyming hard rn

Yeah, blue all the way, I can’t wait until Harris/Tampon Tim destroy the USA by keeping the boarders open for the next four years. This should destroy us all, thanks to people like you all.

This video is insane lmao. In the context of the Dems not being the law and order party it's really ironic that a former prosecutor has the nomination in light of the rhyming of 1968. Goddamn this was good.

If history is not repeating itself then ot is sure rhyming and you hadn't seen anything yet because they are going to lockdown the country with martial law after this election because whoever wins, you shall see a civil War. And like the Jews help put Jews in the ovens you shall witness black people doing the same thing to black people, WATCH

I just discovered your channel, and was watching this. My first instinct was to type a "swing and a miss" comment but no, actually hell no, you made some real good points in this. Whats happening right now with kamala is just as undemocratic as 1968. A lot of people are ok with this now because she seems to be beating trump though. Somehow this time its working but its still fucking horrible practice.

Thanks F*ck the dems rallied around one candidate and didn’t fracture!

Vote like your life depends on it!

Project 2025 and Trump are still almost polling at 50/50 with Kamala! Don’t get complacent!!

I remember Chicago 1968 very, very well. I was 17 and had graduated from high school in June. RFK died on that day. I started my first anti- Vietnam War demonstrations that year.

Nah, we only got Nixon because he was pro war, a crook, and the epitome of the status quo. There were two anti-war Democrats, one got taken out; the other probably stopped doing what he was doing because of that. The assassination of MLK Jr. happened prior to that event; because he was anti-war, and pro-class solidarity. Then the next year, Fred Hampton gets taken out.
The Civil Rights Act was pass in 1964.
