I feel so bad for the actors, I bet they were super happy to do it and they give 200% of themselves and most of the time when they aren't acting the best it means they had a bad director

22:57 Iroh had actually lost his composure one time previously, in the season 1 finale when Zhao tried to literally assassinate the moon. Quite a point of comparison for how desperate Iroh is to see Zuko freed from his burdens!

They did the same thing to Percy. He's a moron in the books and unserious but in the show suddenly all that humor is gone. Meanwhile the actor showed us in his past projects that he can play un-seriousness very well which is why everyone was excited when he was brought to play Percy.

2:48 and him along with most of the other actors are casted so well but directed so wrong just like you said he’s so much more like him in real life but they sucked the joy out the show

I find it hard to write a comment because you’re rant is so accurate with pointing out the problems in the show. The writing is just terrible. They took these characters which were versions of different tropes and turned them into clichés of themselves.

I know you mention this, but I just want to say: I can’t believe Iroh pretty much outright says “I’m treating you like the son I never had because of my regrets as a parent!” He just NEVER said that! He never said that because that’s not something people usually say, but we as the audience understood it because the original series SHOWED IT THROUGH HIS ACTIONS. People don’t usually talk in this weird therapy-speak kind of way, but I guess the original audience of literal children were better at paying attention to the story than adults addicted to scrolling in their phones.

    Season 3 predictions:

    1) Ozai is killed
    2) Azula wins the Agni Kai, but the elders don’t see it until Katara heals Zuko and restrains Azula so Zuko can win
    3) the southern raiders slaughter the fire nation forces
    4) no burning rock
    5) Mai backstory changes so her romance with Zuko feels like she’s only marrying him to improve her family’s station.

34:25 to be fair, both have him die in the library, in legend of korra when we return to the spirit library in season 2, we see his skeleton. Dude literally died reading.

There is some validity of, even if it's comparable run time, having less overall episodes to tell the same story does impact it some. But it's not an underdog story. The animated version had less money thrown at it, and didn't have a previously defined road map to base its story beats off of.

"he looks tiny up there next to the giant beast" ha ha ha what are we doing here folks. How about not making content for people looking at their phone lmao

they screwed up zukos chara so much that im certain his iconic redemption arc wont hit the same. this whole show is so insulting. i 100% agree that in trying to make the series more "mature and adult" they just made it dumb as fuck. it makes me sad to think abt how many ppl might get a bad impression of the og show based on this. ugh.

It breaks my heart every day that everything that's come out since ATLA has either been kinda alright but also not, or completely unwatchable trash. I'm scared to watch the animated film. I need it to be good.

"Same set of cast and crew with a different set of writers with a clearer vision (and a studio that doesn't make everything worse) could make something pretty decent" Could quite possibly describe every piece of Avatar media that came after the original

To be clear, when Zuko says he's tired of all of Iroh's little jokes, he isn't referring to anything that happened in the series. Whenever Zuko's not on-screen, he's been watching Kim's Convenience.

I just wish to know why are there so many Book 3 plot points in Book 2 and also wanna know why the HELL what little plot points are in the season they're supposed to be in are solely in Ba Sing Se

Another flaw with live action adaptation is that, if your gaps between seasons are Netflix-long, your whimsical child character will not only be written as a moody teenager but will look like one too.
