Chasing down an S.G. Goodman video has been like trying to bottle lightning in a mason jar. Western AF has been on this fox hunt for years. She’s the pinnacle, the gold standard, the kind of artist that doesn’t just play music but bleeds.

It’s the holy grail for those of us hunting the raw and the righteous. No gimmicks. No bullshit. Just the real stuff. The kind you feel in your gut long after the last note fades.

So here’s how it finally happened. After years of trying, chasing whispers and dead ends, we were led deep into the woods. Somewhere off the map, where cell service dies and something older takes over. The property felt enchanted, like it had a pulse of its own. A cabin stood there. From the look of it, it felt part mystic shrine, part modern hideaway. Architecture that didn’t shout, but hummed with meaning. It was the kind of place where songs aren’t just played, they’re conjured. We spent the better part of a day setting it all up, chasing light and mood like it mattered. Three songs. In the bag. And yet, somehow, it feels like this is just the opening scene of something bigger. Something honest. Something real.

The day couldn’t have gone better. Everything just clicked. We weren’t walking around like artists anymore. We were comrades. People who’d been through something together. That kind of day burns itself into memory. And maybe, if you’re lucky, into the music too.

S.G. Goodman’s “Snapper Turtle” is a slow-cooked, Southern gothic stew of grit, pain, and beauty. It crawls out of the muddy riverbanks of Kentucky, dragging with it generations of hard living and harder truths. There’s a tension in her voice, like barbed wire wrapped in velvet, pulling you in whether you’re ready or not. Like a meal eaten with dirty hands on a front porch at dusk, it lingers, and you feel it in your bones.

S.G. continues, as is known by music lovers and fans, to toil our heartstrings and make us sit and think deeper. A ponder for the heart. I can say the least, that our hearts, after capturing such a performance, are enraged with joy. Solace comes when good music like this, its captured. All hail y’all.

Mike, that description🔥🖤🔥. SG, salute to a tattered canvas rodeo banner year and such a worthy rise to recognition. Incredible heart and soul songwriting when the big We needed it most. Thank you, WAF.
