I grew up in the 80s. What I remember about the 80s is people weren’t angry all the time. Yes people argued and debated about things but at the end of the day everyone still felt like they were ultimately on the same side. The world is a miserable hateful place now. To the young people watching this thinking it’s cheesy with the smiling and dancing , I can honestly say this is how young people felt at the time. There was optimism and people just enjoyed themselves. I feel pretty sad for young people today. Angry, bitter, jaded. It’s terrible. They’ll never really feel the way it was back then.

This wasn't a Special, it was a Summer *Series*, it was this odd mashup between music, comedy, occasional stunt games and other etc's. Lasted 7 episodes from August to September 1985, Dick Clark Productions made it.

i was 6 in 1984 in California and went to the beach every Sunday with my family during this time. O those were the best times! And i was a big fan of Duran Duran back then cuz my elder siblings would keep MTV on all day every day

Looks like it was great to be alive back then. Must have been nice when people were more accepting and didn't look and act like complete narcissistic a- holes.
