This is spot on. Coaching and Mentoring are powerful tools and can make all the difference in someones life. We need to be comfortable with hearing the uncomfortable truths. Amazing lecture. Thank you Professor!

He has some really good info. But he might as well be a priest preaching in the 9th circle of hell thought. His audience is mostly gray haired seniors which point to my second sentence.

It always seems to me, that the greatest misunderstanding about leadership is, that most people think being a leader is a pleasant thing — as in: being powerful, ordering people around, never lifting a finger again, having people look up to you, and have them bow down before you.
While actually leadership is all about taking responsibility. As a leader you are responsible for whatever it is you lead. If you lead a company and you make a mistake, people might lose their job. Then that's on you!

Have you seen this? Did you understand it? Good, now there is no reason to go to business school. Learn something tech-related with your precious time in college instead, and then when/if the day comes, don't forget this short but very informative lecture, and extrapolate from the shit he said. 🙂

in my opinion leader has to be a great observer great listener patience is a must dont think you know everything know your weekness.Know who you are. Figure out how to overcome obsticals. You have to be malleable.dont be affraid to ask questions. failure is an opportunity to learn. Leader is courageous.

    Leadership IS:

'The ABILITY to INFLUENCE OTHERS to ACCOMPLISH a TASK or mission'

Nowhere else is leadership most crucial, as it is in the military where people's lives depend on it.

Charisma means likable? Id say that a leader must have charisma. charisma means many things including likable, but it doesn't stop there, likability, trust, respect, much of the definitions cross with leader. A good leader is charismatic.

You're thinking about whether a person is charismatic, and hereby likeable, which then results in people being willing to "follow" that person's "lead". Leadership in this context concerns being a succesful leader to these followers – having them like you and then choose to follow you does not make you an expert in leadership.

the best leaders have always been the ones who stand in the middle of their men and they all believe he is one of them the greatest generals in history lead their armies from the front for a reason.
