I’ve never seen this war crime on film – did they actually upsize that bus bench, just a little bit, so she could swing her legs off it, and seem a little more, idk, childish? Was this a trait the sister had IRL, and this is just some extreme accuracy to the source material, or is it weird setplay to elicit a reaction, even if subconsciously?

Rainman is touching. This movie is disgusting. As a comedy? It works. But this is a serious movie. It's horrible.
If you watch it as a comedy it's a laugh-a-minute smash hit. Rosie's acting in this is SHOCKINGLY bad, SHOCKINGLY offensive. The only way it could get any worse is if she decided to do it in blackface as well. Pee Wee Herman would be no more out of place as the star of that movie, considering she for whatever reason decided to channel him for the role.
