Responding To Your Complaints about Angine De Poitrine!

Justin Hawkins Rides Again | August 20, 2026

I’ve been reading your comments on my last episode (one of the most commented upon episodes we’ve had in the past year) so I thought I’d respond to some of them. While some complained about algorithms clogged with Angine De Poitrine reaction videos, many of you mentioned other musicians in relation to the band, such as Primus, Clown Core, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, King Crimson, Battles, Cardiacs and many others. I thought I’d see what you’re on about…..

A full list of all the songs featured in this episode will follow…

Yeah… a duo making microtonal, instrumental music using loops, complex and unusual time signatures, with a dance aesthetic and in observance of prog rock tradition, delivering consistently tight and flawless live performances, while wearing outrages costumes and completely buying into the schtick of their made up alien-time-travelling personas…. Yeah, completely derivative.

The clown corp notes on the keyboard do not match the notes we hear. We hear a minor third (3 semitones) but the keys are only 2 semitones. If this is intentional, it is very silly.

Justin, you NEED to react to “C.E.O.” by Weezer. Seriously. This song is a straight-up slap in the face to modern corporate culture and the whole “CEO lifestyle” bullshit. There’s a lot going on here, and I’d love to hear your take on it. These guys are cooking something BIG with this one. 🤘

Nice – 🇨🇦 here, I heard some Devo and Kraftwerk influence also, and like you, I consider them very innovative and original, something which is largely absent from today's music scene. Still, haters gotta hate.

Any music that moves away from manufactured pop music is fine by me. Some people see music as an art form, others as a way to earn a living. Sadly today music has to have commercial potential or its not getting a contract. People like Beefheart and Zappa, often took the art form into the abstract and pushed the boundaries of music. This was also the case, with many German acts during the 70s. Faust, Can, Neu, Harmonia, to name the few. Music is always down to personal taste and to some its the background sound to enhance their working day. To others music is much more.

This is a fantastic video because for people who have never heard these bands, they can can now go and look them up. It's more like a Public Service announcement. I still think Angine are the band I would love to catch on their last song at the festival….a concert of this would bore my acid trip massively. Captain beef-heart is the most important thing mentioned here.

you better add Snakefinger , Gabby La La , The Residents , some NRBQ , DOMi & JD BECK , any musician who like myself studied Non-Western music. And oh yeah , guitarists get a bunch of thick zip-ties

AdP reminded me of the first album by Mahavishnu Orchestra when I first hear it. The way it gets you compulsively counting beats to try to follow the grooves. Great album, recommended!
