I think the one thing that got me was that the engine starts smoking and instead of using ANY of the emergency exits (which also would’ve looked cool as hell for the shot) they all run to the front to escape like that isn’t more dangerous being close to the engine LMAOO

Greetings from Aotearoa! Love your reviews and the show. The funeral episode is unreal because it felt so relateable to how we do things in the Maori world. Absolutely love seeing indigenous representation, the humour, authenticity, direction, writing and cast – tino aatahua! 🔥♥

Hey, I'm the guy who posted the White Steve/Ken Jennings comment! I'm pleased as punch to have made a small contribution to these recaps. I've been loving these Native reaction videos. Also totally agree that Zahn McClarnon needs to do more different roles. He's been doing a fantastic sympathetic performance in this show, and I'd love it if he continues to do more comedy.

Un-asked for white perspective…Kenny Boy wants to be seen as part of the culture in a respectful outsider way. He gets he is not of the colonialist blood quantum but he does his best as a white man to respect and understand the culture. And he craves the tiniest respect for abandoning the colonialist mindest – not being called Kenny (i.e. no offspring change of name from Kenny to Ken), being acknowledged as an Uncle would suffice. All he wants is recognition as a person of influence within the community's youth. And, (un-asked for white perspective speaking here) Kenny does have influence in that community, like it or not.
Speaking as an un-asked for white person – I can kinda relate with Kenny's desires and I totally appreciate the representation given in this series to the wha-hi-tay people like Kenny.
Apologies for a long post about colonialist mayosapiens.
To make a long story short: This show really makes sure to represent an ENTIRE community – unlike any mainstream show ever. I appreciate the favorable bone thrown in the colonialist direction.

Nobody is perfect but I'm a bit pissy the older elders didn't reach out to Max to get him back after all these years. Thought they'd have the knowledge Willie Jack had regarding lost ones and wishing we could see them again. It shows a side to the younger generation regarding their values and how different they are then the elders. Not taking away from the elders but just saying they're different.

I feel sad that this amazing show will have only 3 seasons, but that feeling is lessened by the ground-breaking nature of its very existence. TW is also a very busy dude 🙂 and he has, I think, done his part in getting the door kicked open. Everyone associated with RD can move forward into other projects — I just hope & pray that those projects are there for them. This episode had me laughing & tearing up, everything was on point. I agree with Jacob, I would SO watch an NDN heist movie — and I don't even like heist movies!!! Thanks so much for doing this review series to all y'all, and special shout out to Patrick for the obvious extra research on references. I bow in your general directions, gentlemen. 😉
