I understand your frustration with people's reaction to your use of the term 'egalitarianism'. Some people have an annoying habit of reading too much into what other people say and pulling out of it something that wasn't there.
It's not that hard to just listen to what people have actually argued and just pay attention to what is actually being said.

You know, I think there's this built up straw-woman of feminism, the man-hating feminazi who wants to castrate all men.
I'm pretty sure feminism is necessary, if only because, without it culture will backslide into more misogynist standards. But das jus me… I do think that society still has some work to do on gender equality.

I am very disappointed. That, but "that's all I see" as an argument" is really poor. I could say I see a lot of people of color committing crimes on news and other disappointing stories/memes/etc. I could argue that black people are normally like that and more open minded people like you arguing against is #notallblackmen (I'm not). So, the extremist idea is very valid. I am feminist (obviously-not gonna respond to trolls so save your wrists). I know many feminists of both gender that are not what you see. Feminism is not a female rights only movement. It includes men's issues. If you have done your research you would not need to follow up a defense because I do not think you understand the full meaning behind the ideals feminists follow.

Interesting how that's not your opinion on BLM. I just watched your new BLM video and you call for people to educate themselves and not believe the biased stuff about BLM being shown in the media. It's sad that you can identify with BLM since you understand their core values and agree with them, but you won't do that for feminism. I love your content and think you're super smart, but I guarantee you, if you were a woman and had our experience, you would call yourself a feminist.

"Listen to the argument the person is giving, and then respond to that" <–!! That whole section! Yes! I see this a LOT and it's very frustrating. You end up feeling like you have to add all these disclaimers to whatever you're saying, otherwise people will jump to conclusions about what or why you're saying it. And a'course they'll STILL make assumptions and ignore everything you 'disclaimed'. At least read and understand what the person is saying before trying to add something to the discussion! It's a two-way street, ffs! I am not the mouth-piece of all the people you think would shallowly support my argument!

It might be your social circles/where you lurk on the internet. I've gotten asked if I was a feminist IRL three times in my life. Twice it was to make me look bad if I said yes. Once it was to make me look bad if I said no. I immediately distrust anyone who asks me that question. Every time it came up it was an unnecessary question in the context of the conversation. Just a tool to dismiss my ideas.
I've also noticed celebrities get shit on for saying yes to that question (I noticed a big backlash against Taylor Swift when she became a feminist).

I don't agree that one should make associations based on what someone believes in, in MOST cases. Wouldn't that still be prejudice and moving us all back as a whole? Plus it's pretty common knowledge that there is little one can do to change an opinion about them once it's formed. It's really up to each individual to discern who the real prophets are.
That and the DEFINITION… we have to put everything and everybody into little neat boxes, it's just obnoxious. It's so much more about semantics than it is about actually resolving anything! Why are there some women deserving of feminism MORE than others? What the fuck even is that???
Finally, while so many want to make this a "man v. woman" thing, we ALL suffer from these divisive ways of thinking. We all had a mom, grandma, aunt, SOME female in their life that worked to care for them… in what way would you not want to support them getting their fair share? That's really just one example. Feminism (shouldn't) mean less for men in any way, but more for women, more for families and communities.
(PS – I TOTALLY agree with the "automatic argument" thing, it's very annoying… especially since I take time to think out an active, mindful response. Love your videos, I will comment more. ;D )

I am aware. To be more straight forward, since you used the words feminist and feminism over and over without specifying philosophical or activist nearly as frequently, I lost track of which concept you were addressing a few times. Maybe I'm a dink, but I think it really is the slightly ambiguous phrasing. I'm suggesting that if you (and others in general, including myself) took the fraction of a second to say "activist feminism" or "philosophical feminism" each time we spoke such a loaded word the message would be a little more clear. If enough people do that regularly with whatever commonly loaded words, we might one day be just so lucky that the practice divests "are you a feminist/socialist/atheist/purple-people-eater-ist?" of its power to stir controversy. Long shot though, amirite?

It might be helpful to distinguish more clearly between philosophical attitudes versus activism. You touched on that briefly in the previous video, but kind of conflated philosophical feminism with feminist activism by not specifying regularly enough. Similarly, the repeated use of the term egalitarianism started to sound like referring to a social movement. I think I'm in some degree of agreement with the jist of your ideas, in as much as I think a person can be a philosophical egalitarian but the term is so broad that activist egalitarianism cannot possibly exist because there are too many simultaneous inequalities for any real work to be accomplished without picking at least a few to focus on. The focus is where activist feminism, socialism and so on become applicable phrases. Reiterating the distinction may become tedious, but seems pretty valuable in terms of clarity.

If you criticize feminism, you are a misogynist. BUTHOWEVER you can criticize specific things that people say and claim to be feminist and not necessarily be misogynist. Because feminism just means equality, acknowledging women as people. THAT concept is not up for debate.

Keep doing the Redux! Limit it to 2 or 3 responses per topic though, you don't want to end up in a long chain of responses for a single topic.

While I do have feminist views I don't feel as though I need to apologize for or correct the views of extremists. I can't control other people and people will always respond to negative views more than the positive. I just try to show people that I'm not going out of my way to be an asshole and hope they can understand that.

Interestingly enough, the older I get, the more feminist I get. I guess with life experience comes perspective.

Yes! So many people in any argument or discussion seem to want to argue the point they want the other person to be making. Whether it is, like you said, similar sounding to something they may have heard, or just because they think you align with some group or label that they already have a problem with.
So many miscommunications… Your channel has been one of the few true communication focused channels I have come across. it is refreshing to know there are channels out there that seek to bridge communities, rather than to draw deeper and deeper lines. Keep it up, eventually these people will get what you are saying.

as a feminist, I would point out that feminist matters are always tacked on to, or combined with another subject. so here we have the redux question and the feminism vid redux. to each I say 'yes'. yes to redux. yes I am a feminist. (to me feminism means I am not managed like livestock. that's it.)

I feel like I often disagree with aspects of your videos but I think just because our experiences are different, or you focus on different aspects of something than I do. So hearing you come back and clarify and respond to major points your community was making is pretty neat.

People can call themselves egalitarian, but when they're making an argument with an anti-sexist intent, they're doing feminism. By definition. Anti-sexism is precisely feminism.
If you don't like some feminist people, or what the word is associated with to you (which is fine) do your "own" feminism but don't shit on the word or the concept, or the action.

Yet again, you just GET IT. I'm definitely someone who identifies as a feminist, though I use the term "intersectional feminist" because I like to think more globally about women's rights. My boyfriend, however, does not identify as a feminist. He prefers the term egalitarian, and if that's what works for him, that's what works for him. I wouldn't attack him for it, because our views are essentially the same.

I think a Redux series is a great idea. Some topics are great for a follow video, like this one was. I also believe if you feel strongly about a movement and you want to draw people into your movement and understand it, you are responsible for providing a positive outside view. There will always be bad apples in anything, but if you feel strongly and care about something, you have a certain responsibility to be louder. Great video!

You mention that feminists are responsible for controlling the radicals, but I think you're missing a key element: Trolls and Misogynists actively masquerading as feminists in an attempt to discredit the movement. First, I will say I don't think its feminists responsibility to control the radicals in their movement, but regardless, how would they when there are significant numbers of people actively working against them?
On another note, you base a lot of what you talk about on your personal anecdotes, and while I wont disagree with any of them, I would strongly encourage you to remember that anecdotal evidence is among the worst forms of evidence, and to ensure that you aren't unwittingly falling prey to confirmation bias.
