#REDHOOPTALK goes LIVE Friday at 5pm EST/ 2pm PST when we visit with ROSE NIMKIINS PETOSKEY, a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Rose grew up on the Band’s reservation in rural northern Michigan. Rose is a graduate of Michigan State University and Cornell Law School. After law school, Rose began practicing in Washington, D.C. at Dentons US LLP in the Native American Law and Policy practice where she is currently a Managing Associate.
Rose is passionate about and has particular expertise in matters related to federal Indian law with a focus on Indian lands, environmental matters, and
rural economic development. During law school, Rose served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Victoria A. Roberts of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Prior to attending law school, Rose participated in the Udall Foundation Native American Congressional Internship Program, and interned for the Department of the Interior Office of the Assistant Secretary-Indian Affairs. Rose has served as a board member of the Native American Bar Association of Washington, D.C. since 2016 and served as President in 2020.
