Join #REDHOOPTALK when we visit with THOMAS M. YEAHPAU, a multitalented storyteller and belongs to the Kiowa and Apache Tribes.
Thomas is the author of a number of novels including X-Indian Chronicles: The Book of Mausape and The Last Pow-Wow. Thomas has directed numerous short films, music videos, experimental videos, and internet series, including the short film, “My Favorite Runner,” which won the 2006 ABC/Disney Writing Fellowship, “The Ways,” a short horror film, and “Dr. Warbonnet, Medicine Man,” a comedy. Much of his work can be viewed on YouTube including “The Ways” and “Dr. Warbonnet.” A musician, Thomas has scored most of his own short films and masters the soundtrack for all of his films.
While a ABC/Disney Television Writing Fellow, Thomas honed his screenwriting skills and spent time in professional writers’ rooms and on set of various television shows.
He is also an actor and is a lifetime member of the Thunderbird Theatre Group. He has acted in numerous plays, including “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” and has participated in UCLA’s Project Hoop which works to enrich Native theater.
Thomas grew up in Anadarko, Oklahoma and currently lives in Medford, Oregon. He is a graduate of Riverside Indian School and Haskell Indian Nations University. You can find Thomas on YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram.
