Red Hoop Talk EP 105: Shonnie Bear, citizen of the Quapaw Nation and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma
Shonnie Bear is a citizen of the Quapaw Nation and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. A Southern Cloth dancer and dedicated powwow tabulator, she has spent years supporting powwows by helping ensure dance contests are conducted with fairness, accuracy, and integrity. Through her work traveling to powwows across Native Country, Shonnie brings a deep understanding of the traditions, responsibilities, and community relationships that make these gatherings possible. Grounded by her husband and twin sons, Shonnie finds joy in family, sewing, and beading, all of which strengthen her connection to culture. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood Education and Liberal Studies and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, reflecting her commitment to serving and strengthening diverse Native cultures.
