Darren Thompson is a citizen of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. He is a Native flute player, traditional quill artist, and multi-media journalist. His commentary on Native issues, as well as his reviews of his music, has been published in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, National Public Radio, CNN, and numerous media throughout the world. His writing has been published in Buffalo’s Fire, Native Peoples Magazine, Native Max Magazine, Native News Online, Indian Country Today, News from Indian Country, Unicorn Riot and many other publications. As a musician, Darren has performed at some of the most prestigious Native cultural organizations and institutions including the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the Heard Museum, the Santa Fe Indian Market, the National Music Museum, the Crazy Horse Monument, and the Berklee College of Music.
