Heeeey thank you for watching this video on TikTok music that was popular during ye olde pandemic of 2020. There is a strange, but relatable kind of nostalgia that people have for that time when we were all on our phones nonstop for a few months — and it certainly created its own weird, subgenre in our collective brains. Here’s a tier list of some of those songs, specifically pulled from this one Buzzfeed article: https://www.buzzfeed.com/sydrobinson1/pandemic-tiktok-songs

No Buttercup by Jack Stauber? I hate to say it, but TikTok was how I discovered him. His work is incredible.

I’ve been calling these pandemic recession pop- I know it wasn’t a recession then but a lot of these songs had the same vibe as that era of recession music- people putting out upbeat music in contrast with the dire nature of the actual times

Surprised it's only Pop R&B Hip Hop on the list. There were quite a few Rock and Metal lockdown songs that IMO were much more interesting than this slop.

As a big Surfaces / Forrest Frank fan, Sunday Best is most definitely not their… best. Definitely agree it feels a bit lifeless, especially compared to some of their newer songs

Shocking, this list is actually not bad, I think you should've covered some more but maybe you could do a part 2 imo

I WISH I could have forgotten about that goddamn "Feeling good" song. My work's radio picked it up and I had to hear it every shift for literal years.

Ok. Surfaces are like, my favorite group ever, but I completely get what you're saying about Sunday Best. If that had been my introduction to them, they probably would not have become my favorite artists.
I recommend their albums Pacifico or Hidden Youth for a better impression of what they're about.

this is slightly unrelated since this song blew up in like 2021, but im forever mad that most people my age only know mcr through teenagers. like as a song its fine but compared to the rest of their discography its kinda mid. its even crazier in the context of the album its from cause its an awesome rock opera that blends mcrs style with some classic, glam and prog rock influences while bringing really interesting commentary on life, death, loss and fame, complete with some religious and queer themes/imagery on top and then teenagers is just… there i guess. again its not bad but very disconnected from the rest of the album, and it was more of a joke song really. i assume their record label just pressured them to put it on the album cause i just dont get how its there and b-sides like heaven help us or kill all your friends arent but i digress. this was a fun video, sorry for the yapping

thank you for ranking deathbed that low because i have always hated that song, especially because it's how most people found bea 😫 i found her not long before she released patched up, and coffee was one of my favorite songs of hers so i have always held a grudge against deathbed
